Charles not getting the touches
I guess I'm thrilled that LJ was happing (dancing, smiling, again dancing with DBOWE), but, I just noticed Charles didn't get any carries this week. Should we have gotten him a few more touches?
Or are you that happy that LJ is "happy" bc he was the man again. BTW, notice most of his runs were not just up the gut, but a "little to the left" and a "little to the right".

Was LJ's last TD a gift from Shanahan?
For those who TIVO’d the game, watch the replay of LJ’s last TD. The Chiefs were up by 7 with a 1st and goal on the Bronco 18 (thanks to a penalty). The Broncos use their final TO with 1:44 +/- left in the game. We are now at 2nd and goal on the 18. Worst case scenario for the Chiefs is they take two kneel downs, burn some time and kick the FG. This puts them up by either 10 (2 scores) with a sucessful FG, or 7 with a wide right and Denver has the ball on the 25 with either 10-20 seconds left in the game. Not sure even Elway could pull off that miracle.
Instead, I think Shanahan told his boys to let the Chiefs score. They would still need two scores (granted 2 TDs), but with 1:40 that is very possible. Their previous drive was acomplished in less than that and could have easily scored if their receivers had any footing. Also, their on-side kick fundamentals worked great on the prior attempt – just needed a little more stick-em on the mitts.
Anyway, the Broncos made no real attempt to tackle LJ or strip the ball – he has been prone to fumble – on that 18 yard “scamper” into the corner of the end zone. I was wondering why Herm did not take the knee and burn some clock. Not 2nd guessing, just being a Monday evening strategist.
Great rivalry games over the weekend. KC-DEN, SD-OAK and Skins-Boys. Aint the Sunday Ticket great?

If you watch the replay
He first ran up the backs of the O-line where he was supposed to go on the right side. He was kind of ducked down behind those guys looking for a hole. To be honest I think the defense kind of lost track of him until he broke out. There’s no way they would just let him have a TD. Those guys have pride too.

It's been done before
The Packers let the Broncos score in the 1997 Super Bowl when they were in a similar situation.

Yeah but
We were at like the 20 yard line, not the 1 yard line.

You go with whats working
The Chiefs NEED Larry Johnson right now. He is carrying this team on his back and when he plays bad, the whole team plays bad. When he is up though, they have to keep going with what works.
Charles will get his touches no doubt. But if you got a guy working on a 200 yard game, you don’t give it to another guy just to do it. You stick with whats working.

No, Panters is accurate,

I'm a big Charles fan
But things were working with LJ, so I have no problem with the play calling. I’d be curious to know what the game plan was regarding LJ/Charles before kick-off. I can’t believe Charles got aced out to make LJ happy. They’re trying to win a ball game.
If Charles ran all the same plays LJ ran, how many yards do you think Charles would have gotten? More or less than LJs 198? Before this game, I would have given the edge to Charles if the two had a Twilight Zone episode where they got a chance to play out exactly the same situations. I think LJs hard hitting paid off more than JCs speed in this one, though.

Charles will get carries in time
It’s his first year and we are trying to make sure LJ gets some love. Charles will be a big part of our future, no doubt.
