Caw! Caw! Caw? WTF!?!?
Caw Caw! No! Caw! CrunchCrunchCrunch...caaaaaaaw! Gulp.
Okay, I'm eating a little crow. DJ played lights out. LJ was a man. And, at least for this week, I won't refer to Adrian Jones as a fat chick.
- Other things that impressed me and/or I noticed:
- Herm pulled Hali;
- Taylor was awesome at LT;
- Niswanger was overmatched at times;
- Brandon Carr played very well and was a finger tip away from stopping the Bronco's only touchdown;
- The special teams have turned a corner. They hit, they block, and, if B. J. Sams starts again for this team, I'll be VERY disappointed;
- Why couldn't we have tried one more freakin pass to Tony G? Now he's gonna get the record on the road;
- Demorrio Williams was surprisingly effective at linebacker. Maybe he should get a chance. Williams/Edwards/Johnson? Might be worth a try;
- Dorsey and the other linemen were very effective against the run early (and pretty much all game) but faded terribly late in the pass rush.
I think today's win was another example of just how young this team is. I think we'll continue to see mistakes but I think it's pretty obvious they took a step forward today.
Question is, do we go back to Croyle now? I love his physical tools but he's a China doll out there.

I think
we need to go back to croyle. It would be a waste not too because we would never know what he could do, and damon sure isn’t going to win us to many games anyways.
Our biggest issue right now is our pass rush, which is less than respectful. Cutler had all day to throw the ball today, which says even more about how well our young corners played.
Wow, isn’t nice to be able to talk about something good again?
Another thing; Did anybody see Dwayne Bowe throw up the Roc with LJ on his last touchdown!? I LOVE D-Bowe, and seeing him join in on something that doesn’t even mean anything to him makes my day. I even think Herb joined in. Maybe if we are lucky, Jay Z will buy the Chiefs and LJ will get Carl fired… Maybe not. Either way, that has to be my second favourite chief celebration of all time, besides LJ in his last game last hyear with the flag.

Very good point, Ben. Carr and Flowers, especially.

Does anyone miss
Surtain or Law? This is the best yound secondary since the ’90s!
Yeah, I said it.

Johnston
I think you can also add him to the list of intriguing prospects…he had some flashes of talent out there.

Jared Allen comparisons
gained some credence today

He's Still Got Aways To Go
But he looked like he’s got some definite pass rushing ability. I wonder if they should start giving him some snaps at RDE…not necessarily most of them, just some.

Kinda Agree
Between Johnston, Hali and McBride (who had a great game IMO), I think we’ve got 3 #2 DEs.
But we didn’t get much of a pass rush so I’m interested in the possibility of adding another weapon at the end position (cough::Michael Johnson GT::cough).

Demorrio Williams
If he was playing w/ 2 hands, would have had an interception today….

Johnston...
Yea, he did not look particularly awesome if you look at him as just another player, but if you add the stipulations that he is a seventh round ROOKIE then he looked very promising indeed…
It is kinda lame to say crap like this, but I cant wait to see Glenn and Johnston after their first year, I think they will make a leap in the same way that Tank and Turk have this year…

Hopefully
in another year Turk and Tank can make another leap. The difference in those two guys this year compared to last is enormous.

Turk
That was a great downfield tackle he made earlier in the game. That kid is really coming on this year…I think we might have ourselves a burgeoning star.
And yes, I thought Whitlock was an idiot for writing him off after his rookie season.

He's making good plays
Would really like to see some sacks coming from SOMEBODY though. They aren’t really even getting pressure.
I think Turk would be just fine if the guy at RDE were an above average pass rusher. For whatever reason, Hali has just disappeared this season and the zero pass rush is really hurting us.

I Don't Always Agree With Him
But I also think that part of the reason people get so pissed off at him is because he’s often right on topics that people would rather he were wrong about and he doesn’t sugarcoat his reasoning to make it more palatable. People who are blunt in giving their opinions tend to be very polarizing and make people uncomfortable, and that’s just what Whitlock does.
The guy’s not automatically right about everything of course (like with Tank and Turk), but I’ve found him to be about as credible as any journalist out there (and moreso on some topics). And I’m still in agreement with him that Carl Peterson needs to go.

That just about sums up
Whitlock. A lot of times he is spot on in his commentary. He is definitely a very polarizing writer.

Love Whitlock...
I don’t always agree with him, but he definitely doesn’t cater to the politically correct all the time so I respect his writing…

Neeed to move Hali
Back to LDE, he has not looked good at all on the right.

Who takes his place?
And as good as McBride is playing, you don’t mess w/ a good thing..

Switch McBride and Hali
Couldn’t hurt.

McBride appears
stronger too. I wonder who posts better #’s on the bench press? If he is indeed stronger than there would be a valid case for switching the two.
Everyone talks how immensely Tank & Turk have improved over the course of the past year. Take this into account w/ Dorsey and just imagine what our front line looks like in a few years. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I LIKE the d-line and backfield we’ve put together already thru the drafts. If only we can complete our linebacker corps and front line just the same!

From what I googled and found
Tamba had 18 lifts at the combine
McBride had 14 lifts at the combine

Just Goes To Show
That combine workouts don’t always mean a lot.

Just skimming through this...
I see a lot of excitement. I just skimmed through this and other posts on this blog and either everyone is taking a holiday from the reality of the state of the team, or our memories get erased quickly like a hard drive in a Gateway computer…
I can appreciate celebrating in the moment as these times will likely be few and far between, but it is time to get back to work. We are a long ways from not calling yesterdays game a fluke. Denver had about as bad of a game as I have seen them play. If I was Herm, I would have started getting these guys to focus for next week two hours after the game. With such a young team, it would be good to mold them to this mindset.
Tons of promising things came out of yesterdays game too. I saw a young team starting to play as a team. It was very encouraging to see those guys talking on the field before and after plays on defense. Also the O-Line appears to have understood some of their assignments a little better. So to come away with that victory in spite of the Chiefs front office and all the Denver mistakes is a sign of life.
I am not trying to be a nay-sayer, but I want to put it in persepective. If Herm makes the play-offs this year, I will be the first to buy a Herman Edwards fat-head and hang it in my office as well as put out a post praising Carl Petersons’ genious. Right now, I think I am very safe from having to do that…
Beat the Panthers!!!
