Apologies Welcomed
As some of you may remember, I wrote an article about a week ago about how th Chiefs run defense was not as bad as it seemed to appear.
Upon writing this, many people were quick to point out how "stupid" and unintelligent the article was. Some even went to the extent to say that it didn't even make sense.
My main point was that the Chiefs defense couldn't stop the run because they spent too much time on the field due to our lack of offense. I mentioned that once our offense finally got its act together we would see a much stronger run defense then we had been seeing all season.
Enter denver broncos.
One of the most prolific offenses in the NFL was shut down today in Kansas Citys first win of the 08 season. Playing a major part in this was the terrific run defense played against denver, a team known to take any player off of the streets and turn him into a 1000 yard rusher automatically with there famous zone-blocking scheme. The Chiefs swarmed the field and prevented the Broncos from running all over the Chiefs. Heck, we even stopped the classic "Bronco Boot" from destroying us from time to time.
So, here I am, waiting for the people who were so quick to call me stupid and unintelligent to come back and eat their words. Hey, look on the bright side, we just won for the first time in 13 games!
GO CHIEFS!

I didn't disagree with you
but for the record, one good game doesn’t mean anything. I, however, am really excited about the upside potential of this young defense.

Agreed
This is just one game and doesn’t prove anything. But what it hopefully WILL do is get the monkey off our back of that 12 game losing streak so that its not hanging over the players heads every week. That can give them a boost of confidence to not feel like they’re always behind the 8 ball.

This will help
But I was just sick of hearing everyone bagging on our defense when there is nothing they can do if they spend the entire game on the field. Of course we will have bad games where we are gouged, and we will have good games as well like the one today.
Basically, the main points are
a) As mentioned before, our run defense is not as bad as our stats indicate,
and
b) I’m not some guy who is just trying to be positive, contrary to what a few “experts” on this site seemed to think when I wrote the initial article. A select few seemed to think that what I wrote was nonsense and I was just trying to sell some kool-aid when all I was doing is speaking my opinion, which by the looks of things, has turned out to be relatively correct.

When losing some people just lash out and want to play the blame game
As Herm said, winning cures a lot of that. Now if we can just keep winning…

They still broke off some big gains
They’re not out of the woods yet, they had 361 passing yards and 94 rush yards racked up on them. They weren’t stopping them from moving the ball, they just created turnovers and the offense finally capitalized.
have you seen my baseball?
