Real Solutions to the Peterson Problem
What will it Really take for Hunt jr. to fire Carl? I want realistic answers. We all want him gone, but nobody really believes it will happen. Not selling tickets will help... My fear is they allow Carl to stay, he drafts a QB and he and Herm get a few more years to play run, pass and punt. It seems with the stadium renovations and the likelyhood we have the first pick, that its an oppurtune time for a new regime. Tim Tebow will make this team a lot of money. Maybe not win a ton of games, but thats another topic.

Sometime after
The 09 season, as well as Herm.
Unless there is little or no improvement in the rebuilding by then
Herm will keep his job…Peterson will retire, and Hunt will make it clear to the next GM, that Herm stays put – I wouldn’t be surprised to see them promote someone from within to be the next GM (someone like Kuharich) It will be weird to have a different GM…Peterson has been there since I was 4 years old.
New GM
Hunt will make it clear to the next GM, that Herm stays put
I don’t see this happening at all. If the Chiefs are going to be as bad as I think they are, I seriously doubt Clark’s going to think that sticking with Herm’s plan is brilliant enough to insure him job security. Herm’s just as big of a problem as Carl is at this point, because Herm’s not getting these guys (and I mean the ones who actually have talent) to perform or improve.
If he moves Carl Peterson out before his contract is up, I seriously doubt Kuharich gets promoted…I think he’ll bring in somebody from outside. Because everything affiliated with Herm and Carl’s “plan” will be tainted by association, and if Hunt’s dumping Carl this year it’s a sign that he doesn’t have faith in what Herm and Carl were doing. He may not fire Herm, but he won’t tell the new GM that he can’t fire Herm. Hunt’s given no indication that he’s that kind of micromanager.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
Never say never
I honestly do not think Clark Jr. has the same loyalty to Carl as his Dad. I am sure they will assess the team and the progress they have made at the end of the year. If it continues to go downhill then this would be the time to make changes. I would completely clean house and bring in all new staff ala Bill Parcells.
Agreed
Carl will be here through his contract and IF the Chiefs show solid improvement as the season progresses, Herm will stay on for a while to see the project through for a couple of years. If there is no improvement and the team doesn’t get more than 3 – 4 wins, Herm and Carl both will be on the street.
Hunt will have to be true to his word at the end of last season. He is about business and success of the team, and I believe he will do everything to look out for the best interests of the long term Chief’s franchise interests, over loyalty to Carl or Herm.
