Trent, Dante and Eddie

I got to thinking yesterday when the Rams announced our beloved QB of old, Trent Green was the new starter this week. (Dear Lord, please keep him safe) along with the fact that the Rams apparantly like to collect our Cast-offs ie: Dante Hall and Eddie Kennison.....What if we could replace Damon H with Trent; BJ Sams and Devard Darling with Dante  (Dante is currently listed on the Rams depth chart as #2 WR) and Jeff Webb with Eddie K......Would our chances of winning a few games or more this year improve with the rest of the current roster as it stands? I know this is all just fantasy and a mute point; and one might say I am living in the past, but I for one would like this scenario, especially Dante for Sams. What do you all think? I hope this isn't too silly as this is my first post (hopefully it won't be my last, LOL             GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!

Well,

Trent and Damon rank right up there in the “old, immobile QB” category and neither team has a capable O-line – no upgrade there.

Eddie has not made any catches this season, and he doesn’t have the speed Darling has. If Eddie is the WR in week 1 catching that pass from Damon, he gets nowhere near the 5 yard line.

Finally, although Dante has made a small contribution to the Rams’ WR corps (which is something that BJ will never do), he and BJ have comparable return numbers so far this season.

In short, I say we’re no better off with Trent, Eddie and Dante than we are with Damon, Devard and BJ.

Agreed

It would pretty much be a wash all around.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Vomit

Jesus, are you kidding me?

At least Green can throw the fucking ball. At least Kennison knows how to run his routes (something that, regardless of Tyler’s inability to actually get the ball anywhere near them, we have trouble with last week), and do you ever, ever think BJ Sams is ever going to be capable of returning a kick for a touchdown? At least with Dante there’s hope.

Jesus, people. Damon Huard is the second worst starting quarterback this franchise has had in the last thirty years (Tyler is 1st). Look at reality. And this is with me thinking Trent playing this year is unfathomably dangerous for him and his family. And I’ll still take that over the 35 year old with highlights (in his hair. Who does that? Honestly?)

Bones. It's not just a noun it's a verb. Not just a nickname, a movement.

Thanks!

And I too am very very worried about Trent playing Sunday……..

no...and don't call me Jesus

;)

I’ll agree with everything you said if you’ll agree with me that none of those six players fixes any problems the Chiefs have with the possible exception of Dante. Beyond that, I don’t want any of the six starting for us.

If we're not going with a young quarterback to develop?

I’ll take Trent Green over Damon Huard any day of the week. That man went to battle for us for years. Yes please. I’ll also take Stephen Jackson over LJ, and Kennison would at least prevent double teams on Bowe.

I was going to say

It is weird that now that Eddie is gone, Bowe has struggled a bit.

Welcome to AP!

I saw Bobby Bell at the HOF announcement for Emmitt Thomas. He looked great, don’t we need a good proven linebacker?

Ok, Ok

Lol, I got it…..I do think Trent is a upgrade over Huard, as with Dante, however slight, maybe the real ? is will Trent lead the Rams to their first Victory and leave us unquestionably the worst team in Mo??

by MsChief88 on Sep 25, 2008 1:26 PM CDT   0 recs

One thing we all have to remember

Is that some of those players on Vermeils team were just OK players. Trent Green was a good QB and I liked him a lot, but he wasn’t really anything fantastic. Eddie Kennison? #2 or 3 WR on a lot of squads.

What made them all look fantastic was the most expensive and talented offensive line in the NFL. Two Hall of Famers and another Pro Bowler.

That will make anyone look good. Get the offensive line situation sorted out and everybody we have on the squad now, including any of the QBs will look 10 times better than they do now.

As Usual, You're Selling the Vermeil Teams Short Again

I know they had no defense, DJ, but c’mon. We were Showtime. That offense was a finely tuned machine. Trent nailed throws downfield, short, whatever we needed. And Kennison looked an awful lot like a #1 when he was sprinting to the endzone in overtime of the Green Bay game. And he did catch a ton of balls for us.

I'm not saying anything bad about Vermeils team

I’m just saying that that all star offensive line made everybody look better.

Trent was a good QB with those guys up front and Kennison was all we really needed at WR because of the opportunities the offensive line afforded them.

by ChiefDJ on Sep 25, 2008 2:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And...

because the offensive system was expertly constructed. You can have a great offensive line and still have a bad offense. It happens all the time. An O-Line is of vital, vital importance, but it’s not everything.

Agreed

Most teams have some weaknesses…but the good ones find a way to compensate for those weaknesses.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

I would still rather have that team.

At least if we got down a score or two there was always hope of winning. We get down two scores now it is oh well its over.
