QB Options: You Decide (and Why)

Current:

1. Start Pigpen - opps Thigpen

2. Start Huard

3. Get someone else....right now

4. Give one of the other 3 Qbs, not mentioned above a shot

Longterm:

1. Stick with Brodie, its his team, sure hope he doesn't get injured.

2a. Go out and get someone(pay with draft picks)

2b. Go out get someone (trade one of ours)

3. Get a FA at the end of the season

4. Draft a QB

5. Just pick up other teams leftovers until the end of time(if you pick five you better check the name on your drivers license and make sure it doesn't say Carl Peterson or Herm Edwards)

i think we should invent an offensive system

that eliminates the need for a QB

Naming my son Brodie Damon

Sorry I forgot an option

6. Do what we did last week and put a WR in at QB and look like idiots. (again check your drivers license and social security card to make certain your name is not Herm Edwards or C-a-r-l P-e-t-e-r-s-o-n.

YOU FORGOT

Option 5: START INGLE MARTIN

I actually would prefer to see him play and fail than to watch Thigpen get another game to show us what we all really know.

I smell an argument between me and UCrawford coming.

Draft Cullen Harper and start him next season. For the rest of this year play Damon Huard, he gives our skill positions the best chance to grow.

I'm Fine With Drafting Harper

He looks like a very promising young QB. But I wouldn’t start him or any other rookie QB next season behind that o-line (which is going to be a project next year too) and next year I think we need another QB besides Huard to be the caretaker until whoever we draft is ready. Losman looks the most likely candidate because he’ll cost us the least.

So there’s not much of an argument coming from me. And I agree with you about Huard.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

I say

We draft a QB next year as our #3. Keep Brodie on board as our #2. Sign Jeff Garcia as our #1. Look at what he did for the Eagles and Bucs. He’s mobile and has an arm. His mobility automatically gives us a passing game. And I know he’s older, but we could use him for a year or 2 while Brodie mans up, or the #3 kid can step up and be the man.

I may have missed the boat

I thought this season was all about getting the youth in and giving them the opportunities to make mistakes, yet develop into long term and solid players, so that in two years we could possibly contend for the Div Championship and 3- 4 years the AFC Championship or the Super Bowl? Does it only take parts of two games to decide to give up on and throw away the players we have?

I am not happy and have done my share of whining, but I don’t see using Huard for the starter. Let the young guys play and use Huard as the back up to come in to relieve an injured QB or save the day if it is really just that bad. Losing draft picks and bringing in guys over 30 at this point is counterproductive and a season where we don’t expect to contend for anything.

All the talk of how wonderful other QBs will do is just dreaming just as much as dreaming that ours will develop into gems. At least give our own guys a legitimate shot. The preseason doesn’t count for actual evaluation and the past two games have been errors all around. As most said at the beginning of the year, let’s give players games under their belts to learn from their mistakes and make adjustments. By mid-season we will know who is worthy and who isn’t.

Again, is it worth it to just win one or two extra games this season, while losing cap money necessart to resign the quality players we have, or draft picks necessary to continue bringing in high value players next year?

Thigpen will stall the development of the skill positions.

He is HORRIBLE. Even the OL will get frustrated and think whats the point of trying hard. He should be playing on a practice squad, yet he is our starter. Thanks Herm/Carl

Plus he looks just like Elvis Grbac.

Did anybody else notice the “I have no idea what that means” look on his face a couple times. Elvis Thigpen is what I shall call him from this point on.

No one

is really saying to give up on the players, and not necessarily the coaches either. We are upset with the decisions being made, and with whomever may be making those decisions. For example, and this is the big one, Why haven’t we made it through one season under Herm without loosing our starting QB? Why wasn’t our line woes addressed more aggressively with so much cap room and available talent?

I’ve said it before, we as fans don’t give thanks for the personnel for doing their jobs. Thier thanks are the paychecks they get at the end of the day. However, I feel like we deserve some sort of explanation as to why Edwards can’t keep a healthy QB, and misfortune is NOT an acceptable answer/excuse anymore. They claimed Brodie was the QBoF, but throw him to the wolves to get injured by one of the better defenses in the league. Why in the hell would you do that when all the kid has proven through history is he is injury prone, yet you want him to lead your team back to greatness?

have you seen my baseball?

And someone please enlighten me

as to how our QBoF being on the sidelines hurt fits into this rebuilding plan? Seems like it’s more of an excuse to keep your job an extra year building…

Jake FREAKIN plummer! Surely you jest. Until we get a right tackle and guard leave thiggy in there at least he can run for his life.

Give Thigpen a chance

How can you judge Thigpen when he hasn’t had but one chance to even play with the first string offense. You should hold of judgement until he’s at least had a chance to get a rhythm with the starters. Everybody should know by now that Herm is going the way of youth so just buy your booze and deal with it for this year at least.
