I will not calm down

Why does is seem that everyone is defending this organization, trying to "calm" us down, or make it seem like it's not as bad as it is. Really? Have you all seen the last 11 regular season games? There has been no real progression from the dismal 2007 season. I realize that's it's still early in the 08 season, but what we witnessed against the Raiders was a full-blown meltdown from the entire team; coaching staff included.

I know that many people have read the same quotes and watched the same Herm press conferences as I have. I have heard him say on more than one occasion how you don't abandon your game plan. So what was our game plan on Sunday? I am certain it wasn't in the books to throw Maurice Haggins out there three times to take a snap and once to throw a pass. Or was it? Was that supposed to be Herms idea of "tricky" playcalling?

"Lets throw a guy out there no one has seen. Just because he's as tall as Vern Troyer doesn't mean he can't make a throw..." Really guys? Are the rookies SO young and stupid that they can't learn more plays? Do we really have to dumb down the offense to a HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL? Why do you keep running LJ into walls of man-meat, and then on 1st and 5 in New England we pass 4 times? We're reliving last years offense, only without the hope of a quarterback who can stay in the game.

The Chiefs brass made no attempts in the offseason to go after any decent free agents to bandaid all these holes we have. We have one of, if not the largest, free cap room in the NFL, and we have all these holes? IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

If it were all injury related and we were having to take people from other teams practice squads... ok. Week 2, half the line is hurt, our starting QB is hurt, his backup is hurt, ok. I could see that. But you can't sit there and tell me that they  didn't see this coming with the right side of our offensive (literally... again) line.

Maybe if we saw some sort of progression in the direction of the team I could calm down, not be so upset. But what is the direction? Get younger? Ok, how does getting younger win you games? It doesn't. Talent and heart doesn't  win games. We have to have someone with a clue to steer this ship in the direction it needs to go. Why is it that almost every picture I see of Herm on the sideline shows him looking confused? Seriously, why? I'm going to take a shot in the dark here, and say because HE IS. He reaped the benefit of Parcels in New York is my honest opinion. I don't think he can coach a team to win.

So no, I will not calm down. I didn't expect the Chiefs to be worth much this season, but I also wasn't expecting to lose to the Raiders so badly, who as we all know, are a really bad team. I will calm down if I see progression in  the team, in the coaching, in the playcalling, in the game planning... but I have not seen that since Edwards took over. All I have witnessed is a regression with the addition of "promising  talent."

I agree with you..

and also think you hit the nail on the head. It is now 11 games in a row. Some people tend to forget that just because a new season starts the losing streak doesn’t end. I would like to see some progression forward NOT backward.

BTW, did you happen to see Jack Harry on 38 the Spot yesterday evening. It was pretty amazing how with so much outcry, we still haven’t heard anything from the organization. Also, I appreciate the guy from Warpaint Illustrated but he needs to stop being so nice. He almost just said how he really feels and then you could tell he didn’t want to lose his job. Kudos, Jack Harry for telling it like it is!!

Preaching To The Choir, Brother

I definitely hear you and wholeheartedly agree.

I am tired

of people trying to tell me us how we should feel about the team. As long as I’ve supported them and given my faith that they know what they are doing, I will embrace my feelings, and right now I am downright pissed.

Will I feel different next week? Perhaps, but I won’t forget about what transpired at Arrowhead on Sunday. I couldn’t sit in my seat and watch the game, and it might be the last time I go this season. It’s come to the point it’s not even worth the hassle.

It's things like this
"He’s not being phased out," Edwards said. "Our plans are always to get him the ball. But as the game played out, when it got late in the third quarter, we went into a different mode of having to try to throw the ball. We had the ball for only 5 minutes in the third quarter. We were in a mode of trying to catch up. When they took that big lead, we had a whole different personnel group in there. We got away from the run because we had to throw the ball."

that really irk me about Edwards and his apparent unwillingness to change his gameplan. The Chiefs are always playing catchup, because they keep running into walls trying to establish a run that will never happen because they refuse to open it up early.

Are you me?

The Parcells thing, he inherited a Dick Vermiel team, made it to the playoffs(luckily) we start doin the shit he wants to do, and we become the Detroit Lions, Arizona Cards. This guy has to go! Plain, simple, cut, and dried!

I can't help

but want them to can Edwards and bring in Kiffin after Davis cans his ass. Seriously. I bet we would beat Oaklands ass for another 6, 7 seasons in all those games.

Leave Edwards in charge of the defense (maybe). Or make him the DB coach again, he had alot of success with that under Dungy. He has just not shown that he is head coach material.
