Would you....
I suggested in the offseason that we not even tinker with Brodie Croyle. He has talent, but has proven over and over that he cannot stay healthy. Unfortunately, we don't really have a competent back up either. So, we have two options..
- Ride this train and draft Tebow or Daniels in April.
- Would you.....trade LJ for Brady Quinn? And if LJ is worth more, would you ask for a draft pick as well?

Personally
I don’t think LJ is happy and either is Quinn. So……do it.

LJ
Again, salary cap considerations are at play here, so we probably can’t trade Johnson in the second year of a massive 6 year contract. Second, LJ hasn’t demonstrated that he’s close to the runner he was in 2006, and while that may not be a big factor to Chiefs fans, (who want to believe that LJ is only bad because of the offensive line or the rotten QB situation), other NFL teams aren’t going to share that optimism…particularly not enough to trade a potential #1 QB for a running back who hasn’t looked good in 2 years. Third, the Browns already have a RB in Jamal Lewis and he’s having a better season than Johnson this year (and had a much better season than him last year). Fourth, until Derek Anderson demonstrates that last year wasn’t a fluke they could very well decide to go with Quinn, so they aren’t hot to trade him.
This isn’t Madden…NFL teams don’t give away starting-quality QBs for disgruntled, potentially washed up running backs.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Yep
There’s a reason trades are relatively rare in the NFL. I thought the reasoning is that LJ’s bonus would be accelerated to 2009 leaving us with a massive cap hit, and especially massive considering the player wouldn’t even be on our team anymore.

I would cry if this happened
Cuz i’d be so happy! I love LJ to death but running backs are a dime a dozen in this league and we have two fast young running backs that can get the job done with the right blocking, and the line just needs a right side G and T. But anyways Quinn would be well worth a 1st and 2nd round pick and whatever else because you don’t have the worry of what you’re getting cuz u already know that ur gettin a solid, hard working, mobile quaterback that has a ton of abilty. And u know gettin rid of LJ is a much harder process so that probably wont happen but Quinns worth going after without giving up LJ

A 1st AND 2nd pick
for a QB who is yet to really play? Don’t think so.

I bet we could snag Daniel as late as the third round.
Even though he’s an elite college QB, he always starts out in the shotgun and is pretty short for an NFL QB.

Contradiction
…always starts out in the shotgun and is pretty short for an NFL QB.
Out of that I got we have no clue if he can properly adapt to taking the ball under center and is undersized.

Oh
I just reread your comment – you weren’t really calling for Daniel. Ignore that!

how about we address our oline?
this is pretty typical fan-style GMing.
Go for the big sexy name, either a QB or a probowler at some other skill position, never what actually needs to be addressed.
Remember when Cleveland drafted Joe Thomas? The fans BOOED. I was one of them. But we were wrong in our desperate search for what we thought we needed, and missed the fact that you cant do ANYTHING with a crappy o line. You cant run, you cant pass, nothing.
And drafting o linemen has of late been much safer than drafting QBs.

Other than LT
No offensive line position is worth taking in the first round (eh, I guess you could make a case for RT late in the first).
And after the 1st round, the average fans’ knowledge drops off dramatically.

coudlnt we draft an LT
and move ba to rg/rt?
idk that might be stupid but the oline needs to be our no1 priority in my opinion

If it ain't broke, don't fix it
At least it doesn’t look broke so far. I think Albert is looking good.

Neither choice is an option
The Browns aren’t going to trade Quinn and the Chiefs aren’t going to trade LJ. He can whine like a little prima donna all he wants, but thats all it is.
Daniels does not have NFL QB capability and frankly Im getting kind of tired of hearing about it. He is a GREAT college QB, but that means absolutely nothing in relation to the NFL.

I tend to agree with you on that sentiment
but if they’re giving Thigpen a shot, Ingles Martin (still I say, who?), and whoever that guy they tried out from the Cowgirls practice squad a look, why the hell not. I am sure he’ll get drafted somewhere. The guy is accurate as all get out, and can move.
Personally, I think the Tigers could have given the Chiefs a worse ass-kicking than the Raiders did on Sunday.

How many
How many extra picks do we have for 2009? Any extras in the first three rounds?
