I'm not an Offensive Coordinator...
But here's what I would do. SPREAD THE FIELD! And here's why...
1. Most college teams use the spread form offense and since our offense is mainly a college caliber team we need to think about using a spread offense with 3, 4, and 5 receiver sets creating mismatches within the secondary and giving our QB an opportunity to find an open man. We have all the perimeters to run a spread offense. A mobile QB (Thigpen) , a lightning quick RB (Charles), and a ex-college head coach for an OC (Gailey), mobile TEs (Gonzalez and Cottam), and a pair of decent receivers (Bowe, Franklin, and Price... sorry Darling). You don't need a dynamo at QB, hence the reason guys like Chris Leak, Troy Smith, and Vince Young succeeded in college and are not as successful in the pros.
2. LJ is faster than you think and does not have to run through the 1 and 2 gaps. If I recall during his 2005 and 2006 seasons, Johnson would got much of his yardage on draws, pitches, and sweeps. Defenses underestimated his ability to get to the corner and turn it up where he could bulldoze smaller corners. Not to mention we have one of the more mobile LTs in the league in the fleet footed Branden Albert. LJ is best when he waits for the run to develop, find his hole, and truck-stick his way down the field. We don't have to run Dives and Smashes between the center and guards every time, after all, those are the weak spots on our line.
3. Bowe is a Ball-Hawk down field. You don't need to just run WR screens. The one highlight of the Chiefs offense was Dwayne Bowe's catch in the fourth quarter the semi-started an offensive movement. The Chiefs need to turn on the Bowe Show and take notes.
4. It can prove the worth of our young talent. There's really not much to say about this, since it is relatively easy to interpret. Basically, give Jamaal, Kolby, and Will Franklin the ball and let them do the work. They're fast and almost too good to be kept on the field especially with LJ not doing anything.
5. It will keep fans into the game. With outstanding stats that come with the spread offense, fans will be more in tune with the game and they will actually watch the entire game. The Chiefs might even be fun to watch.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Well
Any offense would require a NFL caliber Quarterback and Right Tackle. We have neither.

?????
What can’t understand why the only run I seen work yesterday was a pitch sweep to the right side to LJ that went for like 5 or 6 yards, then they never called it again. Instead still just banging there heads against a brick wall trying to run up the middle.

Unfortunately, Jack
The stats do not support your claim that we run every 1st down. Or even run more than we pass on 1st down.
That’s what’s great about AP - it’ll make you think.
