True story

A friend of ours just relocated to Napa. We got their wedding invitation in the post last week. It had an Oakland postmark on it. I was ordered to disinfect the post box and leave a note to the post lady not to deliver mail bearing an Oakland postmark in future.

(ok maybe the last bit wasn’t true, but we did consider it)

Get this

Last year during the preseason, I was at a family reunion of sorts where there are like a million cousins you’ve never met.

I sat down to eat and this father and son sit down next to me. The dad is wearing a USC hat and the son says, to my horror, “Daddy, can we watch the Raiders play?”

The dad responds cheerfully, “Not until 3:15 son!” Then some old guy wearing a Denver Broncos alumni hat walked in later. I had no idea what to do.

I guess

It must be like finding out your sister has just married a Liverpool fan.

No one else is going to understand that are they?

I have no idea what just happened.

NO 1 YARD SCREEN PASSES TO KRIS WILSON?

DOES…NOT…COMPUTE…

I am LOVING this whole Marques Hagans package.

When your offense is as bad as ours is, and when Damon Huard is an extremely limited QB, you might as well improvise.

Definitely a positive sign for traditionally conservative Herm.

Hopefully, we can throw in Thigpen next possession.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:15 PM CDT   0 recs

Positive sign, yes...

…But on 2nd and 15, running it on a QB option when everyone on the Raiders knew he wasn’t passing was a little silly.

But still better than a 2 yard screen pass.

Hah

Unfortunatly sebastion is rediculously good. Quick Little Trivia:Ex Chiefs kicker morten anderson named his first son after sebastion janikowski

by Ben S on Sep 14, 2008 12:20 PM CDT   0 recs

Well, that went poorly

Not that discouraging, but not fun getting 3’d with hermball

by Official Arrowhead Pride Parade on Sep 14, 2008 12:22 PM CDT   0 recs

Please, Dear God, just put Thigpen in and don't look back.

I don’t even care if we lose, really, as long as it is with youth.

If we lose with Damon Huard playing absolutely terrible, then I won’t be able to take it.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:28 PM CDT   0 recs

Darling:

He is actually hurting us by existing.

by JobDDT on Sep 14, 2008 12:28 PM CDT   0 recs

That was just a bad pass

damon should have led him a little more

by Ben S on Sep 14, 2008 12:30 PM CDT   0 recs

Herm MUST GO!

This is a joke! Yeah we have young players, but they have played football before. This conservative bullshit is going nowhere ever!

by Eric Allen on Sep 14, 2008 12:31 PM CDT   0 recs

Conservative play calling isn't what is hurting us.

Shit wide receivers who can’t get open, a gaping offensive line with swiss cheese holes, a running back who refuses to cut… Those are just a few of the real problems.

Banny being Banny.

The o-line was

just fine last week this team is going backwards!

by Eric Allen on Sep 14, 2008 12:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Uh...

Did you watch the game last week?

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:36 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes

And we hung with them with a chance to win at the end of the game.

by Eric Allen on Sep 14, 2008 12:38 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, but with no help from our O-Line.

Our O-Line wasn’t as terrible as last year, sure, but it was still pretty awful. The only one, IIRC, that graded out all that well at all was Branden Albert.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:40 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

This team

Cannot even hang with the JayHawks, not that the Hawks are bad.

by Eric Allen on Sep 14, 2008 12:41 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Who?

The Chiefs or the Raiders?

Because I would agree that we are better than the Raiders, but not by all that much. And you could certainly make the argument that they have more pure athleticism and talent.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:43 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Nice D...

cut the crap on offense. These are the Raiders. I expect 7-6 in about 10 min.

This isn’t going to end well.

Banny being Banny.

by JobDDT on Sep 14, 2008 12:35 PM CDT   0 recs

Best news of the day, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyone is better than Damon Huard, IMO.

At least give him a chance. If he sucks, well, then cut him when Croyle comes back. If not, well we might have found a decent stopgap option next year while we develop a QB.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Relax

If you think LJ could have made that block on the sack last drive then you are dreaming. The playcalling is alright so far, our defense is playing well, and bthe o line is preforming as excpected. Relax and watch the game.

Thigpen

I was horribly unimpressed by Thigpen in the preseason, and while his athleticism and performance in college warrants a chance, does it have to be right now?

by Dan Holmes on Sep 14, 2008 12:38 PM CDT   0 recs

Hope Huard is gonna come back in

He will be alright if they let him play a couple series in a row without any subs. Huard’s gonna throw interceptions, but he’s also gonna make plays. Honestly, he’s the best option we’ve got right now.

by mchief on Sep 14, 2008 12:42 PM CDT   0 recs

maybe

but if the raiders get open shots at him all game he won’t make it through a half

Aaron Rogers: 2009 Chiefs Starting QB?

It could happen!

Banny being Banny.

by JobDDT on Sep 14, 2008 12:47 PM CDT   0 recs

Why would the Packers get rid of him?

And who would they replace him with?

Brohm?

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:48 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh, really?

Sorry.

I still think they will resign him longterm (or at least on a Brees-like one-year deal) but if he is available, I would hope we would offer him a very sizable offer, what with our incredibly large cap space (isn’t it like $40 million+) next year.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Keep dreamin

He throws for way to many yards!

None of our WRs are getting open.

I know its hard to see that on CBS’ ZOOM CAM, but none of the WRs are getting open downfield. Darling has been covered on almost every single play.

oakland secondary stepping it up a little after last week’s performance

by Walter Camp on Sep 14, 2008 12:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Oakland's secondary is looking really good.

But to be fair, they are facing the most untalented #2 WR in the NFL, Darling, and Bowe, who looks overwhelmed.

Pigpen

is not the answer.

by KCScuba on Sep 14, 2008 12:56 PM CDT   0 recs

Unless the question is

who should we cut after once Brodie comes back?

by KCScuba on Sep 14, 2008 12:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

But neither is Damon Huard.

And at least Thigpen, being young and all, has a chance, however miniscule it may be, to be a decent starting QB.

Huard? Nuh-uh.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yea, Tyler Thigpen isn't looking too hot.

Forcing passes and the like.

But, honestly, our WRs are the ones who aren’t getting open, and I would rather have a QB at least trying to make plays and force balls than one who is simply willing to dump it off or throw it to the first row.

At this point, let’s just put in Hagans and let him run the normal offense. But I would rather have either of them over Huard; much higher chance of making plays.

by rockchalk on Sep 14, 2008 12:56 PM CDT   0 recs

At the moment...

I feel like we have a better chance to score when they have the ball.

by KCScuba on Sep 14, 2008 12:59 PM CDT   0 recs

The run defense at the line is not going to be good this year.

I know they’ve looked at least average, but Tank Tyler is going to be a real problem I think.

FUMBLE!
