Where's Will

I haven't heard anything in the past week about the injury status of Will Franklin.  We need him back sorely.  Minus his one long catch Darling is not high on my list.  And, there is a lot of pressure on Bowe right now to be the man, which I think contributed to his concentration issues (drops) last Sunday.  Franklin, I think, adds the depth we need at reciever.  Does anyone have any news on the status of WIll Franklin?

I Wouldn't Get Too Bummed That Franklin's Out

Even with talented players who avoid injuries, rookie receivers rarely contribute much to their teams. Bowe and Calvin Johnson (who had a decent year despite an injured back) are actually unique in their ability to play well their first season. The career progression of somebody like Marvin Harrison (didn’t play his first three years) is more indicative of a receiver’s development.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

From what we've seen though

Franklin is an upgrade over Darling or Webb, our current options at #2…he may not be great, but he doesn’t need to be to be better than those two.

Every little bit helps

I agree he is no Eddie Royal or DeSean Jackson at this point, but at least he can take a little heat of Bowe.

His Speed Will Make a Difference

Just getting him on the field will be a difference maker. Even if he isn’t the primary target, he will be respected and covered for his speed, and pull the corner or safety out of the box. Even if he doesn’t catch a ball, he can make an impact in the running game.

i wonder

if t were will franklin making that catch last week instead of devard darling, would it have been a touchdown instead of down at the 5

Probably not

From what I’ve heard, Darling is supposed to be faster than Franklin.

Darling getting caught at the 5 yard line

Although I do agree that Darling is faster, he should have gotten at least to the two or three yard line on that play. When it first happened I was stoked. After we didn’t score on the next four plays are rewound since I have DVR and watched the play again. At about the 25 yard line he started running defensively and looking behind him. I know its a good thing because he didn’t want get the ball stripped from behind, but if you look at it you can see that the last 20 yards he ran were simply to slow. You know if Webb is catching up to him there is a problem. If he were to have just kept looking forward while still protecting the ball he could have at least made it to the 2 or 3 yard line. If that would have happened there would be no doubt in my mind that we would have seen a very heavy dose of LJ since that is supposed to be his specialty down by the goal line. We could have had so many more options, like on first down a quickly play action pass to Tony G on a quick slant that could have caught them of guard, and if that didn’t work just ram it down there throats the next three plays. If we weren’t to score at that point I think I would be fine with it, at least we would be attempting our supposed bread and butter play.

Anyway I just didn’t know if anyone else noticed that and I had to get it off my chest because I have been thinking, dreaming, and replaying that play every freaking day this week and keep thinking, damn if he could have only got two or three more yards we might have scored.

Enough with the what ifs…….Raiders here we come!!!!!!!

thats wat i meant about franklin

getting further. maybe not just franklin but any other reciever would have been looking foward running like there is no tomorrow. but i do think we should have let lj try to take it in the endzone.
