Around SBN: My First Fight: Diego Sanchez

Longtime readers of this column know that I have a hard and fast rule about 300-pound defensive ends. Except for Reggie White, the greatest defensive player in the history of the league, they stink. Reggie was a physical freak of nature. He doesn’t even really count. Years ago the Chiefs tried to make Chester McGlockton a strongside defensive end. The experiment flopped.

Boone at end will be worse. He’s a decent defensive tackle. He’ll be overmatched athletically against offensive tackles.

I usually don't agree with Jason Whitlock but I think he hit the nail in the coffin on this one.

You can bet if it's Whitlock

he’s always looking to put a nail in the coffin. He will NEVER hit the nail on the head however.

I’ve stopped reading anything by him.

Agreed

I completely agree, I think that we should keep with the “go younger” mindset and give either turk or johnston a chance.

Regarding Boone,

I agree with Whitlock. Looks at the first sentence again (Did I really just say that?)

I don’t think Boone will be good at all at DE. I’m really hoping Johnston (or one of the other DEs) develops quickly, so we’re not stuck with Boone playing out of position for too long.

With that said, I completely don’t agree with Whitlock on the rest. I’ve seen what Hali can do, Dorsey had an unlucky break with a slight injury, and the LB corps is likely to be one of the best in the league. If our starting MLB from last year is still on the team, but not starting again, that means the talent level got better at that position, did it not? I don’t know much about Pat Thomas, but the mere fact that Gunther has him as a starter means he isn’t half bad. Also, Donnie is still one of the best LBs in the league, and DJ will break out this year.

+1

When did everybody start dumping on Hali anyway? I thought he was pretty productive in his first two years, especially since he was at RE with little to no help in the middle. I’m looking for him to go berserk this year and easily crack double digit sacks.

I keep hearing Pat Thomas come up in recaps too. Pat Thomas busting up a play in the backfield… Pat Thomas breaking up a pass play. If this guy earns a spot in the middle, then I’m all for it. I’m itchin to see him in action Thursday.

For some reason I still read Whitlock’s columns. Maybe it’s so that if I ever see him in real life, I won’t feel like a hypocrite when I tell him that he’s full of sh*t. He needs a new picture too. That one makes him look like a drunk eying a scantily clad lady across a bar…. or in his case… a drunk eying a buffet from across a bar.

how are you going to watch him?

Where can I find the preseason game televised?

by PVChiefsfan on Aug 5, 2008 1:03 PM CDT up reply actions

You needs the NFL networks - sorry Comcast subscribers

NFL Network is rebroadcasting the Chiefs v. Bears game at 12:00a eastern Thursday night.

They show all 54 preseason games, but only 8 are live. I will just blind myself to the results until I watch it Thurs. night so I can feel like I’m watching it live.

here is a list of the rebroadcast schedule.

Thanks

I found that last night and have it set to DVR…however, I won’t be able to blind myself to the results all day on Friday (no way am I watching that game until 2 in the morning and getting up at 5 A.M….not for a preseason game) My wife and I are watching it Friday night. It will also be the first game my daughter watches (she is five and a half months old, so she’ll probably just drool and fall asleep ;) )

Preseason Game

If you have the NFL Network it should be on sometime as a re-run. If I remember correctly, last year they pretty much had every pre-season game shown (but most were re-runs). Thank you DVR.
