Most Intriguing Match Ups: Week 4
The Kansas City Chiefs will round out the first month of the regular season in Arrowhead against their archenemy - the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos had slightly more success than the Chiefs in 2007 by notching 7 wins in a controversial season. There was the Travis Henry failed passed drug test fiasco, Brandon Marshall's off the field incidents, Rod Smith appearing in just one game (and subsequently retiring) and Cutler dropping nearly 30 pounds before he realized he had diabetes.
Despite these issues, many are picking the Broncos to be the best of the rest after the Chargers in the West.
The Chiefs have their own problems to worry about - mainly at quarterback. Unlike his Denver counterpart, Croyle struggled to maintain continuity with the Chiefs offense in '07. And in fourth game of the season he'll be facing arguably the league's most intimidating cornerback combo.
The running game is also in question as Larry Johnson returns from a foot injury that kept him out half the season.
One battle that will be interesting to watch involves Dwayne Bowe. He will likely match up against all-world corner Champ Bailey. Bowe had one of his best games in his rookie campaign against the Broncos when he racked up 105 yards on 9 catches. He was held to just 2 catches and 35 yards in the next match up.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, their youth may hold them back on the front end of the season even though this game is played in Arrowhead. The best case scenario sees the Chiefs topping both the Raiders in Kansas City and the Falcons on the road and sitting at 2-1.
Thoughts on Chiefs v. Broncos this year?

I think the Donkeys are going to struggle this year.
I really think we will win this division this year. I think the only loss will be to SD in SD. I am slightly concerned we will not have our top two draft picks this season though. Scheme changes and player movement will make up for this though. Herb will shock us all and play well. What are your thoughts on our top two draft picks this season PT? The Dorsey injury is specially troubling considering he had leg trouble in college. Is this why he fell to 5?

Top two will be fine
Three months from now in November we won’t even remember these injuries.

I thought they said on the news last night it was the same leg.
Of course that would be what I get from the local news!

No…he fell to five because Al Davis is a retard.

Just looked at his wiki.
He did have a stress fracture in his leg did not say which. He also had a knee and tailbone injuries. Could this knee already have been damaged, do they do an mri or catscan pre-draft?

He had to pass a physical
I imagine they’re unrelated. Although he did have those injuries in college, he never missed a game because of them.

I think the chiefs are going 1-1 against the broncos. broncos are going to be somewhere around 6 wins this year. I think the chiefs will be a little better.
My main concern is that we have to many question marks on offense but i have a lot faith in chans play calling.

Welcome
I think the Broncos are really iffy this year. Both sides of the ball are unstable IMO.

Another weak year in the AFC West
Despite these issues, many are picking the Broncos to be the best of the rest after the Chargers in the West.
Saying that the Broncos are the “best of the rest” isn’t a big leap in a three-team field. The talent dropoff is so extreme I think between the Chargers and everyone else that you’re just talking minor variations of bad. The Broncos this year look to me as about the same as the Raiders, just with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. I don’t see either team as all that good.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
