In regards to the fan favorite, Dantrell Savage, some people think he's not going to make the team. The truth is, he HAS to make the team, and Herm knows he doesn't have a choice. The Chiefs have 5 talented running backs and want to keep all of them. There was talk about moving Jackie Battle to FB last night, but that would mean cutting it short at tight end or elsewhere.

Here's what it comes down to: Jackie Battle will survive through the waivers and we can keep him on the practice squad. Dantrell Savage would not make it through... he would be taken right away from one of the other teams that called him after the draft. He said of all the teams, he chose the Chiefs because it was the most challenging. There are many other teams keeping their eye on him just in case.

Therefore, Herm has no choice but to keep Savage, and the best way to make room for him on the roster is to keep him as the kick returner ahead of BJ Sams. Regardless of the rookie mistakes, Savage is a bigger spark to the Chiefs return game right now than BJ Sams.
