Yes, siree. The Governor's Cup is upon us and the two sides of the great state of Missouri are set to do battle once again.
Trent Green, Al Saunders, Dante Hall and the rest of the Rams come into Arrowhead Stadium this evening to duke it out with the best Kansas City has to offer. Well not the best. It is the fourth preseason game and none of the starters will play very long.
But it is football. On a Thursday no less.
So kick back, open up a beer that you didn't pay $12 for (unless you like some insanely nice beer that I've never heard of) and join us for the open thread. For the newbies, the auto-refresh comment feature of SB Nation means new comments pop up immediately, almost like a chat room.
Let's jump right in.
GOOOOO CHIEFS!!!

Thank you for correctly making the KC helmet 150% larger than the Lambs Lid… as it should be!!
Here goes another night of me ignoring what happens...
When the regular season starts, I’ll participate in the game day threads. For now, I will be blinding myself to all things NFL until I can watch the game tomorrow.
Out of towners – NFLN is playing this game at 2:00a cst I believe. Set your DVR’s/TIVO’s!!
I used to do game threads
But then I ended up missing half the game reading what people were posting. So I force myself to sit on the couch away from the computer so I know what the hell is going on.
Ditto
plus, during games I an usually a tad messed up and hungry, so when I try to blog I always end up mistyping and repeating myself after i take a bite.
My blogging usually falls off
in the second half for those exact reasons.

I know what you mean
Until I got a laptop. Now I sit on my couch with the TV on and the laptop with me.

Chiefs team up with IMG?
Apparently the Chiefs hired the group IMG to shop the stadium naming rights.
Sprint field at Arrowhead stadium…?
Noes. I have a fantasy draft at 10:30 est. It was scheduled around this game.
Well, at least I will be sloppy enough by then to forget I need more than one receiver.
Ratings vs. Politics
Now this week we’ll get to see TV rating figures vs. the political convention. Ha! So much for the NFL demanding the games be started early to avoid the speeches.
Good point
What other big events do the Chiefs ever lose in ratings?

What is everyone drinking?
Beer? Liquor? Soft drink? Juice? Sports drink? Energy drink? Water?
The Arrowhead Pride household is sitting on a bit of Tito’s Vodka and some rum. Looks like I’ll be splitting vodka, soda and limes with Miss Arrowhead Pride the rest of the night.
& Vodka
Its called a FROSKA, you been tipped off to that too PT?

Wine
I’ve got some good California Cabernet Sauvignon. Is there a game tonight?
Plus
I came home to a succulent roast beef tonight. Life is good.
Roast beef
That’s no joke. Somebody planned well.

RE
I can’t really complain much either. Miss Arrowhead Pride has been cooking up some great meals as of late too.
Well I told her
that if I converted to Catholicism she had to become a Chiefs fan. Needless to say there is one less Vikings fan in the world. One at a time…
7:30
Is the last start time I saw, but I’m out of state so I can’t get the TV feed
Still in class
But my favorite comment on any blog of all time was the KSK Kommentor Draft of your favorite cocktail:
Everclear and lemon lime Gatorade, I guess health insurance is a must this summer.

If the 2008 Chiefs were an international constitutional body of law
They’d be the New Zealand Bill of RIghts Act of 1990.
Just, you know, in case you were wonderin.

Hey sir eccles
Sorry, I had to delete that link to the site, for legal and SB Nation reasons.
Thanks for understanding.
Woh!
Touchdown Kolby Smith!
Huge run to the right side and he dove in the corner of the endzone!
Very impressive.
Hey
Where was Larry Johnson on that drive? I only get the game on the internet so I can’t tell where he is if he is even playing at all. Thanks
Let's not forget that Gretz is a tool.
JK, not really.
I'd rather take Savage over Manderino
Even with the fumble.
I really
like his blog. It’s one of the few sources of first hand information not really going through a filter.

Dammit
I was in the kitchen dealing with my latest batch of bread and missed all the excitement.
Blame my wife!
i hate the commercials
on 101 the fox on teh interwebz
This team just doesn't make sense.
I know these are 2nd stringers… but how do they look decent tonight after such an abomination against a worse team 5 days ago?
I wouldn't take too much from this
We need a bigger sample size.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 8:11 PM CDT up reply actions
Of course
Just saying this is the polar opposite of 5 days ago.
Sure
The preseason is so hot and cold.

the dolphins were bad in the afc
the rams were bad in the nfc…there’s your difference

NFL Game Center says Bowe
but it was sippio. Sippio wishes he could be mistaken for Bowe.
anybody want to predict the score
? 49-3???
Sippio still stinks
he’ll make it only because of injuires
For some reason
Larue Rumph tried to spear Trent Green with his helmet after Trent was on the ground.
You’d think defensive players would just assume Trent would slide nowadays.
By the way...
has anyone been watching Glenn Dorsey? Hard to judge his preformance off of stats so it would be nice if someone has been watching how he is playing.
I haven't noticed
him much. The Rams haven’t had a lot of plays yet.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 8:21 PM CDT up reply actions
Hopefully they use the money they get renaming it Dunkin' Donuts Field
To buy new camera equipment.
AND FOR GODS SAKE, GET RID OF THE PHONE IN THE ANNOUNCERS BOOTH!
Banny being Banny.
A mixed Blessing
As good as that is, it is only preseason and it sure is nice to watch our pride and joy…
Looks like Savage is playing his way off the team
blocks aren’t helping
The Rams have talent
I just don’t understand how they’re not playoff contenders.
by Joel Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 8:33 PM CDT up reply actions
Its not like the Cardinals or Dolphins are good
by Official Arrowhead Pride Parade on Aug 28, 2008 8:32 PM CDT reply actions
(Annual line about the Cardinals)
I’d watch out for the Cards this year. They can really push for a wildcard spot.
by Joel Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 8:33 PM CDT up reply actions
I know
But as bad as I know we are, the Rams have to be terrible.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 8:33 PM CDT up reply actions
Chiefs DT TJ Jackson
is getting good mentions by the commentators.
Savage back to receive the punt…down by the Rams.
OK
Our kick returner is Sams. Even though I was pullin for Savage. Practice Squad if we can get him through waivers.
Good News
Our defense seems to be creating turnovers (albeit in 1 preseason game) but if we can force a lot of turnovers in the season we could win a few games.
The only thing
I can definitively say about this game so far is that Jamaal Charles is fast as hell.
Johnston
drawing comparisons of a young Jared Allen?
A rookie preseason Jared Allen?
:) Just spicing things up here. Game’s over.
Here I am...
…just in time for the patented hurry-up two-minute Rams offense.
College Roomie is lucky she dropped by during preseason, otherwise she would have gotten the boot or been forced to kvetching during timeouts. And she knows it!
Well, this is about over in my mind

Does Savage Have To Clear Waivers (or something like that) To Make Practice Squad?
assuming that he doesn’t make the 53 man roster
Well if I'm not mistaken
Practice squad players are always available to other teams if you sign them to your 53 man roster. It’s not like it’s a one time deal to clear waivers once and he’s save.
PS players don't count towards the 53 man roster
And you’re right, they can be signed by other teams at any time.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions
Right.
but to sign another team’s ps player you have to put said player on the active 53 man roster.
Did he really say that?
Or did I mishear that?

AS PROMISED, CONNOR BARTH TACKLING A RAM!

are they really going to Obamas speech?

Hell I'm watching Obama now
I love the Chiefs but come on people….
Tonight's fortune cookie says...
IT only gets better
when YOU get better.
Not sure what that means re: Chiefs, but I’m sure it’s significant.
The Chiefs must get better
This we know.

“Turbulence is a life force. It is opportunity. Let’s love turbulence and use it for change.”
Confuscious he say, channeling Obama speech not make good fortune.

I mean hell, McCain was gonna bag you as soon as alternative energy becomes profitable too.
by Official Arrowhead Pride Parade on Aug 28, 2008 9:52 PM CDT up reply actions
Really?
If that were the case, why would it even be a key argument. Why does Mccain want to give tax breaks to the oil industry?
Alright
We can ditch the political talk and hope the Chiefs come one soon.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 10:00 PM CDT up reply actions
But
In his campaign ad he said McCain said he was going to “take on Big Oil”, and everyone knows that everything politicians say in their campaign ads is absolutely the truth.
Personally, I like Lewis Black’s method of choosing a president. We blindfold the winner of American Idol and have him stick a pin in a map. Whatever state he sticks the pin in, we fly a monkey over it in the plane. Then we push the monkey out (wearing a parachute, of course) over that state. When he lands, the first person whose hand the monkey grabs becomes our new president.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
I Would Love To Comment On The Game
But unfortunately it’s preempted in my area so I can have the privilege of listening to another goddamned campaign speech from Barack Obama and the Peoples’ Democratic Party of Half-Baked Socialists.
Man, I’m really sick of this stupid presidential campaign. And interrupting a football game for yet another campaign speech? What the rabid conservative pundits say must be true…Barack Obama really does hate America.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
Ratings
That’s what it comes down to unfortunately.
And just to stop any talk before it gets even close to nasty, let’s take a break on the political talk. The results haven’t been good in my experience.
Thanks.
by Chris Thorman on Aug 28, 2008 10:01 PM CDT up reply actions
I've Already Submitted My Opinion
On how the presidential race should be run. Now I’m off to sulk about the fact that I can’t watch the rest of the Chiefs game and maybe see Steve Octavien do something positive to earn himself a roster spot.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
I don't understand not kicking that there.
Aren’t we trying to audition kickers? The outcome of this game doesn’t matter.
interesting point
about whether he could play fullback
We may, may have another Manderino piece coming up
I hope he makes the team.

We have 3 really good RB, and 2 pretty good ones
They all seem to bring something different, too.
