Yes, siree. The Governor's Cup is upon us and the two sides of the great state of Missouri are set to do battle once again.

Trent Green, Al Saunders, Dante Hall and the rest of the Rams come into Arrowhead Stadium this evening to duke it out with the best Kansas City has to offer. Well not the best. It is the fourth preseason game and none of the starters will play very long.

But it is football. On a Thursday no less.

So kick back, open up a beer that you didn't pay $12 for (unless you like some insanely nice beer that I've never heard of) and join us for the open thread. For the newbies, the auto-refresh comment feature of SB Nation means new comments pop up immediately, almost like a chat room.

Let's jump right in.

Here goes another night of me ignoring what happens...

When the regular season starts, I’ll participate in the game day threads. For now, I will be blinding myself to all things NFL until I can watch the game tomorrow.

Out of towners – NFLN is playing this game at 2:00a cst I believe. Set your DVR’s/TIVO’s!!

by Ochophosphate on Aug 28, 2008 5:38 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I used to do game threads

But then I ended up missing half the game reading what people were posting. So I force myself to sit on the couch away from the computer so I know what the hell is going on.

plus, during games I an usually a tad messed up and hungry, so when I try to blog I always end up mistyping and repeating myself after i take a bite.

Chiefs team up with IMG?

Apparently the Chiefs hired the group IMG to shop the stadium naming rights.

Noes. I have a fantasy draft at 10:30 est. It was scheduled around this game.

Well, at least I will be sloppy enough by then to forget I need more than one receiver.

Ratings vs. Politics

Now this week we’ll get to see TV rating figures vs. the political convention. Ha! So much for the NFL demanding the games be started early to avoid the speeches.

Beer? Liquor? Soft drink? Juice? Sports drink? Energy drink? Water?

The Arrowhead Pride household is sitting on a bit of Tito’s Vodka and some rum. Looks like I’ll be splitting vodka, soda and limes with Miss Arrowhead Pride the rest of the night.

Practice squad players are always available to other teams if you sign them to your 53 man roster. It’s not like it’s a one time deal to clear waivers once and he’s save.

But

In his campaign ad he said McCain said he was going to “take on Big Oil”, and everyone knows that everything politicians say in their campaign ads is absolutely the truth.

Personally, I like Lewis Black’s method of choosing a president. We blindfold the winner of American Idol and have him stick a pin in a map. Whatever state he sticks the pin in, we fly a monkey over it in the plane. Then we push the monkey out (wearing a parachute, of course) over that state. When he lands, the first person whose hand the monkey grabs becomes our new president.
