Samie Parker - Punt Returner
While Parker has never returned a punt or kickoff in the NFL, he said it was because he never had a chance with Kansas City, playing behind Dante Hall and Eddie Drummond.
"Most definitely I think I can handle the job," Parker said.
With Fox saying Wednesday that Robinson is still "week-to-week," it's likely he won't be ready for the season opener. After Jason Carter was lost to a season-ending knee injury in Saturday's win over Washington, Parker is Carolina's next option.
yeah, so apparently Same Parker can return punts?
If he can, I'd say this adds to the reasons to fire Priefer (i.e. if he could return punts, why didn't we have him return punts last year).
But call me a doubter on this one.

playing behind...Eddie Drummond
Wouldn’t this be a reason to question the fact that Parker has any potential as a returner?

Exactly
Parker is trying to hang on to a job, any job.

BAD
Not a good idea. Parker doesn’t have the hands. Nice speed, but he just can’t catch them consistently, I don’t think.

and now this
Parker essentially admits he’d be a pretty crummy Punt returner from the Charlotte Observer
"The guy in front of me was going to the Pro Bowl," said Parker, who was cut by Denver on Monday. "But we’d talk a lot. He had a different ability than I have. I can run; he had more agility and speed. He could stop and start at the same speed, where it takes me a bit longer to get my speed started.
"And his vision … I’d try to see what he’s seeing and it was more difficult for me. His vision was totally different."

Out Of The League
By the end of this season, I’d imagine. Samie just isn’t cut out to be a good NFL player.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Hmm...
…where it takes me a bit longer to get my speed started.

Other Parker-like quotes from around the NFL
“I’m pretty good at breaking tackles, but it usually requires hitting the ground first”
- E. Drummond
“It’s easy for me to get off blocks. I just wait until the running back is several yards down the field.”
- R. Sims
“Yes, my kicks are good and straight, but my sense of direction just isn’t the same as many kickers.”
- L. Elliot
“Kicking off into the end zone is no problem for me when we tee it up at the 50.”
- J. Carney
“My footwork is as good as ever, as long as the defender comes right at me.”
- K. Turley
“Decision making is my strength. I’m able to make many different decisions in the course of a year.”

“Doctors told me that drugs could help me through the season, but I’m a little reluctant to put foreign substances into my body.”

Good for him
Maybe we will be punting to him when we play the Panthers. It is always nice to get a special team fumble or two.

Speed. Kills.
Everyone dogs Samie for his hands or lack thereof but personally I always liked him. I’d rather see his name on our depth chart than a few other rookies. He’s a track runner who’s been able to pass as a football player but I’m wondering how much longer..
..One things for sure, nobody runs a better “In” route in Madden 07 than he ; ^ )

I've told you guys before
No keeping lame players on the team just because they’re good on Madden!

for rill
In an older version I’m pretty sure I turned Junior Siavii in to a good DT before eventually trading him away.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

in order to return the punt, wouldn’t he have to catch it first? i could see that being a problem with samie

I dont know whats more fun – developing talent yourself on Madden or watching it blossom on the field. The way the past few seasons have gone I’d have to say the former.
There’s too fast a turnover in professional sports these days. If all else I just like to see faces stick with an organization and as I’ll reiterate I’d rather see Parker on the roster than some others signed
Speaking of which, who did we select with our draft picks we obtained from STL for Hall?

I think that was a 5th rounder last year
So either Kolby-wan or Dreadlock
