Every year around this time I get to wondering the same question when I listen to the news reports of who will be the starting quarterbacks for various teams: What Makes An NFL QB?
I was listening to Cowherd today (I really don't like him) about this year in particular there are certain people that have "it" that can handle being a quarterback in this league and others who don't. He cited Ben Roethlisberger as someone who had "it." This does not seem to be something that is easily evaluated as there are so many that are picked high in the draft that fail so miserably. They also slip through the cracks very easily (See: Tom Brady, 6th Round Pick)
Right now we seem to have to prime examples to observe and ask this question about in Matt Leinart and Alex Smith...Both were picked in the 1st round and both have proved to be disappointments so far...So I would like to see where you guys think the problem is, where it might come from and if it is something you can change.
Lastly, maybe we should turn this on our own team and talk about whether Brodie has what it takes mentally to compete as a starter in this league...
