Croyle simply held the ball WAY TOO LONG. Granted, we don't know if his receivers ran poor routes or if Miami had blanket coverage on every play. But Croyle seemed extremely hesitant on all deep drops.

Yes and No
While I totally agree that Brodie needs a simpler offense, I don’t agree that he had time. He was running for his scrawny little life the majority of the time. He got hammered every time he tried to step up in the pocket.
Given his talent and our offensive line, I really feel like the best thing would be a simple offense, with him having strong audible control, almost a no-huddle. The kid works really well when you get out of his head. It’s only when you try and force him to be something he’s not that he really starts to struggle. Unfortunately, so far in KC, he’s never been allowed to be that.

When I saw Croyle on that first drive
in the Bears game, I was like “Who the hell is our QB?” he looked calm, confident, and I bet that was the first drive the Chiefs have had in a year where we completed 5 third downs. I know he used some of the “check with me’s” that drive, but I didn’t see any in the Miami game. What gives?

Not a scientific sampling...
I just watched the nfl.com clips from the first three preseason games, and from those you can see how limited the play selsection was in the Miami game compared to the other two. I think we’re keep the good stuff (or not as bad stuff) under wraps until week one.

Only two basic plays in the Miami game...
Brian Waters said on a sideline interview during the game that Chan only had 2 plays for the game (and variations of them, but just two basic plays). I would imagine that made it very easy to defend…. Chan should have picked 2 of the plays he used against Chicago lol…

on the fumble he was not running for his life
he had ample time to deliver the ball or throw it away. On that play he DID hold onto it too long

Ah
I think it may be a wash on that one – it is likely that Croyle saw his running back (or was it the FB) swing out there and cut the guy, and thought he was blocked…but somehow, the guy kinda stayed on his feet long enough to swat at the ball…it was good hustle by the Fins player for sure.
