2008 Preseason Already a Relative Success
Good morning everyone. I've got a few more stats for you to look at, comparing the four preseason games from last to the two the Kansas City Chiefs have played so far this year. The more I look back on 2007 the more I realize what a black hole it will be in my memory. That wasn't even football we were playing last year. And I really need to watch the two preseseason games because I'm starting to sound like a broken record.
| 2008 | 2007 | |
| 1st downs | 40 | 51 |
|
Total yards |
682 | 897 |
| 3rd down % | 43.3% (13/30) | 30% (15/50) |
| TDs | 4 | 3 |
| Points | 41 |
32 |
DJ and Direckshun have some good stuff already posted from last night so I won't take up too much more of your time. Here's a little Chiefs blogosphere round up for you.
KC Chiefs Fanatic - Roster Roundup - WR
Arrowhead Addict - Biggest Personnel Mistake?
BobGretz.com - Wednesday Morning Cup 'O Chiefs
Kent Babb, KC Star - Though just a temp for Chiefs, Taylor hopes to make lasting impression
Is this the golden age for Kansas City Chiefs coverage or what? We have so many sources of information, so many interesting and excellent people covering our team and the best sports staff of any newspaper in the country. Kent Babb is my favorite Star columnist; Bob Gretz runs the best Chiefs sports blog; and there is so much video and other media content out there to satisfy even the most die-hard fans.
To you older fans reading this, how does 2008 compare to twenty, thirty or even forty years ago as far as the quality of coverage? Do you like more choices and more outlets or has the level of discussion declined in your opinion?
I have a mean libertarian streak in me so I'm always going to say more choice is better.

Herb at RT
Herb is a bit small for a tackle, though he appears strong enough and apparently uses technique to his advantage. My concern is that if he moves to RT he will more than likely be facing the bigger of the defense’s two DE’s…will he be able to handle a bull rush from these guys that are only 10-15 lbs. lighter than him (compared with RDE’s who may weigh 30 lbs. less than Taylor)? Of course, if Teddy-Barry Richardson would just get pissed off and step up, the size of our RT would no longer be an issue – he is a freakishly large young man.
If you look back at the Chicago game
there was a running play where Taylor was supposed to seal off the left side – he did, but he got called for holding. Watch it carefully, Herb is on his knees, with his back to LJ, and grabs and pushes a defender so hard that the defender ended up on the ground…and Herb wasn’t even standing. I think that shows some serious upper body strength.
Smokin' Herb
I can’t wait to see how he develops over the rest of the preseason. The guy hasn’t given up a sack yet, which is huge in my book, especially considering the league high we allowed last year. He also hasn’t had a single false start as far as I know.
This guy is the best stop-gap LT we’ve had in years (Black, Turley, whoever). I hope he manages to push Tosh off of RT when Albert gets back to full speed. Until then, I am comfortable with big Smokin’ Herb manning the left side of our line.

That mean libertarian streak...
totally makes up for the gaffe about the Broncos/Chiefs game at Arrowhead last season that you guys posted a couple weeks back.
Video
I agree with stag, this is the first site I check in the morning, I wonder how I made so many years without it. Excellent work. Also where is all this great video you speak of? Are you just refering to NFL.com, kcchiefs.com, and the star? Or are there other sites to check, I havent been able to watch any preseason game and wont be able too here in New Orleans. Is there a site to download at? Maybe a torrent?

Torrent
A torrent is a data file that allows users to file-share various forms of media without it being tracable because while you’re downloading it, you’re collecting individual bits of data from several different users at the same time in order to make a complete digital file, as opposed to the old napster/kazaa/limewire model where you’re getting the file downloaded in entirety from a single user.
ArrowheadPride and Arrowhead Addict
Are the two coolest sites ever. Combined, they probably cost my company tens of thousands of dollars a year.
That's what we like to hear
At my job before my current one, between the hours of 8 and 5 the modern AP was born.
Man, I miss those days/weeks/months where all I did was blog.

I had been wasting my time on RoyalsReview (SB royals affiliate)
before I realized there was a chiefs site here. I hadn’t found a blog I liked on the chiefs til now. I had to rely on the star and the main website. Royals have given up on the season. It’s time to transition sports seasons.
Nice
Welcome! It’s starting to heat up so you’re getting on at the right time.
