Rookie defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, the Chiefs’ top draft pick and the centerpiece of their rebuilding effort, injured his left knee during the annual Family Fun Night practice Saturday.

All I can say is
Boy its a GREAT thing we were all so worried about these guys getting to camp on time. >:(
The good part about it...
...is those other guys are going to have to play, get evaluated and play. You can’t do anything about it. It happens. It happens all over the league and when it happens you can’t feel sorry for yourself or sorry for your football team. You continue to coach and that’s what we’re going to do.
—Guess who said it?
Okay
It’s clear the Gods are angry with us and demand a sacrifice. I say we draw straws. Damon Huard goes first, last, and several times in the middle.

With Herm being jinxed..
The football gods demand the jinxed man as the sacrifice, Huard can go second. Now they are saying the best case scenario is that Albert will miss 3 to 4 weeks, oh shit it is the LJ injury all over again! Here we go spin , spin , spin! Now the optimism fades and doubt enters the mind.
You know how Schottenheimer seemed to be cursed....
when it came to playoff games? Marty is one of the winningest coaches of all time but when it comes to the playoffs, these ridiculous fluke things happen that cause it to all blow up.
I think Herm is cursed by the injury bug. Throughout his coaching career his teams have been riddled with injuries. Just since he’s been in K.C. you’ve had Trent Green and LJ go down with major injuries. In training camp Herms first year here Brian Waters had a similar injury to what Albert has now and last year McIntosh went down in training camp.
Just seems like some guys are cursed.
Not really surprised
I was happy when Dorsey was drafted but we have to keep in mind that he had a knee injury he played six games with last year. He also had a back injury in the past. Part of the DT position.
F^ck me!!!!!!!!!
Dear Lord,
Chiefs nation is sorry for taking your name in vain many last year. We beg you to stop smiting us.
Amen
The only thing that makes me feel any better...
is that neither of these injuries happened while the player was making a cut or on their own. Albert got stepped on, and Dorsey collided with another player. It could have happened to anybody, it was a wrong place/wrong time kinda thing. The other good thing is that these are not season ending injuries (yet). Hopefully we will at least have them for 14-15 games this season, even if they have to miss or be limited in the opener.
Like Sunny said above, this also forces us to develop the back-ups, so that should provide depth and continuity during the season as well.
It still sucks, but it could be worse.
Good News
For what it’s worth, I heard on the radio that, chances are, nothing is torn. Probably out 1-2 weeks.
MRI negative
According to PFT, the MRI was negative.
MRI NEGATIVE, DORSEY DAY-TO-DAY
Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2008, 4:52 p.m.
A league source tells us that an MRI on Chiefs defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey’s knee was negative, and that he’s day-to-day with a sprain.
That sound you just heard was every Chiefs fan in the world exhaling.
Per the source, Dorsey is expected to miss the first preseason game on August 7 against the Bears and play in the second one on August 16 against the Cardinals.
Dorsey sprained the knee when banging it against a teammate during practice on Saturday.
Let's keep the faith
This could be a veritable blessing in disguise. We know that our #1s will produce and be valuable assets throughout the season. We should be thankful to some degree that the backups are getting great practice with the first O and D. The same is true with D Mac and his back-ups.
I hate to see Albert and Dorsey and any one of the starters hurt, but we already know (for the most part) they have what it takes. I’d rather see them sit out and fully heal, while the #2s improve their skills. This will give us a much stronger and coheasive group during the season when we need them.
I hope we don’t lose the faith and start panicing, when we can actually look at the “half full” part of the glass, cheer on the backups, and now expect greater results from the team as a whole when the games count.
Comments at the Star
some of those comments are so ridiculous that I think they are written by Oakland fans in disguise
Troll Central
Yup…there are a couple of guys there who don’t write anything more than the same comments on Peterson and Edwards over and over again. It’s a rare day when I ever read those comment threads any more. I will on the threads for Whitlock’s articles, but some of those comments are so racist and unintelligent that I don’t bother. You can get a better discussion here.
The Star really needs to look at getting some serious moderators.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
When I first saw this thread...
I thought Chris was planning for his trip and had accidently posted the clip on Albert twice. I read it again and then I hoped Chris had “accidently” put the swamp thing’s name in. Then I went and cried…
