I count 82 on the roster now

Subtract one for the intn’l player and we have to get rid of six right?

Help me out because it’s definitely possible I missed something.

Savage

has done everything he needed to secure a roster spot…his return skills alone should put him there, but he also shows some promise as a 3rd down back in the mold of Sproles his first few years with San Diego (when they weren’t using him as much).

Is it just me....

or does Savage remind anyone else of an undrafted free agent RB that came out of the Big 12 South??

Yes, I’m talking about Priest Holmes. Of course it’s way too early to be making comparisons like that, but the way he kept his legs moving on that kick off return… spinning and twisting and still moving forward… it reminded me a lot of Priest. His toss play for a TD had a hint-o-Priest as well… though he didn’t have to do much work to get in. The only thing he was shy on for me was his pass catching, and I attribute some of that to nerves and the desire to bust a big play. I hope he gets that under control.

Not only that, but Savage looks waaaaay bigger to me than his measurements suggest. The guy looks stout, like he could really take, as well as dish out some hits and keep churning.

I hope they give him more work in games 3 and 4 so we can see if he has the same hole recognition and burst to the second level.

I really like Savage, and I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t make the 53 man roster.

He kind of reminds me of a different RB that we had

Hall – Priest was MUCH thicker than Savage, Hall is a better fit for his size I’m thinking… We converted him from RB to WR, I don’t know that they will do that with Savage though…

I always forget

that Hall was a RB in college.

Still… Savage still looks more stout to me than Hall ever did. Hall always looked scrawny to me… maybe it was his long’ish neck – it made him look like a bobble-head doll. Savage looks more like a RB to me. I hope they don’t consider the move to WR, even if it’s just for appearances while he’s the returner.

Maybe he can put on a few pounds and still be effective. Barry Sanders was only 5’8" and right around/under 200lbs.(don’t forget that he returned punts/kicks in college). I should be shot for even mentioning Barry in comparison, but we all know that height/weight doesn’t mean everything… even in the NFL.

Savage should make the team

Unless Sams has HUGE games in the next two weeks its hard to say that Savage shouldn’t be our returner.

I’m not sure about Sippio… I like the guy, but Price has been looking very good recently.

I think Price may be pushing

for the #3 spot…maybe even #2. How cool would that be to finally have a burner who could actually catch the ball as our number 2 WR?

by PVChiefsfan on Aug 19, 2008 9:56 AM CDT up reply actions

Yea, I think Price is a lock.

I think that Bowe, Darling, Franklin and Price are all locks, and it will come down to Webb vs. the rest of the WRs (Sippio, Arthur, McMahan, Joachim) for the last spot. Sippio might have been in the lead before Saturday night, but those three drops probably killed any chance of him making the team. I bet we keep Webb, but I hope we keep at least one of the guys who don’t make it on the PS.

I need to see something from Darling

I’ve read the camp reports, but I want to SEE him play well…

Interesting...

is that I have not noticed Webb at all with the first team…just later in the games…wonder what Herm and them are feeling about him now…

Savage is doing very well but he can’t afford a bad game. he has to finish this preseason strong. Sippio as much as as arrowheadaddict has a man crush for this guy…i just don’t see it…he is slow and would only be a possesion receiver and i think Darling would be better and Webb would be better at that spot if Price is as good as you guys think he is…I think he is the number 3 at best but we will see

by IamtheGreatest on Aug 19, 2008 1:53 PM CDT reply actions

Price needs to get a shot

running with the first team offense to see if he can get open against a good secondary because he looks pretty impressive against the 2nd and 3rd team guys…

Maurice Price

Come on guys, the way Maurice has been catching the ball and simply out playing DVD. Not to mention Maurice has a much cooler nickname… The Price is Right!

Why did you choose this as your fan post name?

by millerhunter on Aug 20, 2008 2:05 PM CDT reply actions

in that case

Tell him I’ve been impressed with his play this preseason. I think he’s nabbed a few first downs for us, and has been opening some good holes for the run game.

Best of luck to him.
