Back in America and Ready for Some Football
After over 8,000 miles of travel starting at 6 PM central on Thursday and ending right at 6 PM central time on Saturday, I've returned from India.
It was by far the most incredible experience of my life and I've returned bleary-eyed, ignorant of any world news and about as far away from the NFL as you can be. Day to life here in Texas already seems slow and relaxing compared to the streets of India but I'm not sure how long this feeling will last. Probably only a couple of days at best then I'll be back to normal.
I'm not feeling especially excited now though. Jet lag is still kicking my butt (It feels like the middle of the night now and it's 11:35 AM) and I'm totally out of the Chiefs news loop.
I'm downloading the Chiefs/Bears game now and I hope to do the same for the Cardinals game when it becomes available. I don't put much stock in the preseason but it's still football, you know? I also found the 1993 Divisional playoff between the Oilers and Chiefs and I'm downloading that now too. I'm sure I'll have time to squeeze that classic in as well.
I can't say enough about Primetime, Direckshun and DJ for all of their work while I was gone. And to everyone else who contributes. The site kept rolling along and didn't miss a beat.
And those three especially deserve a big round of applause.
I'm going back through the site now and reading all of the posts and comments. Also, if you emailed me and I was short with you or didn't get back, I'm going through my emails too. I'll get to you, don't worry.
I believe I got an email about making up a gameday guide for Arrowhead travelers. That sounds like a fantastic idea and I'll jump on it as soon as I can. Of course, I'll need some major help with it. In that, I'll organize the guide while everyone else adds the content.
Give me another day or so back in the real world and I'll be back on my game. I leave you with a clip of driving through the streets of Ranchi, India. This is about average traffic in this city. Feel free to ask me any questions you'd like about the trip in this thread.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Hey Chris I live in the Pacific, and have absolutely no means to catch any of the Chiefs preseason games, how did you download them?

Welcome back
The suspense of knowing football was going on and not actually getting to see what happened must have been torture!
Was there a pretty big clash between archaic practices and modern technology where you were staying? I know lots of India is still like it was 200 years ago but then right next to it you have stuff you would see in any town in America.

There is no American equivalent
to compare India to. You definitely get the sense of being surrounded by an ancient civilization but like you said, you also have the ubiquitous cell phone usage, flat screen TVs above sheet stained beds and tons of vehicles on the road.
It boggles my mind to train to make sense of India in American terms. A kaleidescope of stimulation is the best way to put it.

*Try
to make sense. I’ve got this firefox extension that changes words. I have to get rid of it.

I was in India...
I went to new dehli to study about the vedas…very fascinating stuff…..I felt there was the best of the best there (Indians have some of the best in quantum physics…) as well as poverty that we in america have no idea about….
I notice that you saw a lot of puja’s….were you there for religious purposes? Have you been there before? What is most amazing is the people… most of my friends got sick after being there for a week or two….by the way the best curry I have found in the world is in England…awesome food especially the indian ice cream…burfi…..

Not religious
but business purposes. We got down and dirty and went way off the tourist path.
And I didn’t get sick once. Whew…

Where in Delhi?
I was born in Delhi but lived in Kansas since my teenage years.Where did you learn the Vedas ?
I just know the name of vedas with a little knowledge of Ayurveda.:)
Lots of people go to India for spiritual enlightenment…like Ricky Williams who still after an indian spiritual awakening was caught smoking another joint…lmao. I dunno watz the big deal as I never get any awakenings of such sort when I visit there every one-two years.
In between Chris, what were ya doing in Ranchi,Bihar..lol ? I am glad that you made it back to US safe and sound from that place. And did you learn about Cricket in India..that’s the only sport they talk about in small towns in India.
I am pretty sure if you would’ve visited some big cities like Delhi,Mumbai..you would’ve met lots of Bulls,Pistons,Lakers fans.
I am yet to find a single Chiefs fan there..though met a couple of Giants and Broncos fans.

I saw a guy in JSG
with an LSU Tigers hat on but that was about it for American sports.
I work for an NGO that buys, builds and maintains orphanages in India. So, we visited three of them on this trip – Ranchi, Rourkela and JSG.
I really became quite interested in cricket after the rules were explained. India was also going nuts over air rifle shooting because they just won their FIRST GOLD MEDAL EVER last week. Ever, as in the history of the olympics.

Speaking of first gold
It wasn’t India’s first gold medal ever. India has been traditionally a field hockey powerhouse and they’ve got a record number of 8 gold medals in past in this event…past as in the 60s.
I think it’s the first individual gold medal for India ever, which is really disappointing considering billions of population.
Everyone wants to be a doctor or an Engineer in India as not many people are able to make successful careers in sports in India.
Speaking of the Chiefs, weren’t the broadband connections good enough in your hotel to watch it live ?
I still remember when I was in India last December, I watched the Chiefs games on my laptop.
