Chiefs quarterback Brodie Croyle last week called Charles, a third-round draft choice out of Texas, "the fastest guy I've ever played with, in the pros or in college." Kansas City coach Herm Edwards referred to Savage, a free agent out of Oklahoma State, as the "favorite guy in camp right now."

…this in no way is intended to forgive the Nebraska defense last season… But it’s interesting to hear reports…about the impacts being made by rookies Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage…
Charles ran for 290 yards in Texas’ 28-25 win over NU, the most ever allowed by the Huskers. Savage two weeks earlier had scorched Nebraska for 212 when the Cowboys won 45-14 in Lincoln.
Steve Octavien (rookie from Nebraska) must dread trying to tackle those guys again in training camp. Nightmares.
