Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

Are general manager Carl Peterson and Edwards safe?

They probably are. The Chiefs' ownership is well aware that there's a youth movement and there are some good young pieces here. Peterson has been a fixture in Kansas City since 1989 and Edwards is entering his third year with the Chiefs. It seems there's good chemistry, and Peterson and Edwards will be allowed to oversee the development of their rebuilding plan.

Newcomer to watch

I had to snicker when it came to the presumably consistent camp heading of “newcomer to watch.” He named Dorsey, of course. But how do you pick one with the Chiefs?

His report was a nice, safe summary of stuff we daily devourers already know, but find interesting to hear what outsiders think is news. He went on to say:

Among the players to watch are defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, left tackle Branden Albert, cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr, running back Jamaal Charles, tight end Brad Cottam and safety DaJuan Morgan.

Sure, I want to watch those guys. But then there’s Franklin, Richardson, Brian Johnston, Robinson if he ever gets on the field, and Cox. But can you even stop with the rookies? We’re interested to see how Croyle, Herbie, Pat Thomas, Turk, Tank and even Page and Pollard do. Talk about question marks!!! (he says, using exclamation points.) Even with this list from my head, I’m sure I’m missing a few more. Wow.

This line is depressing
one of the weakest divisions in the NFL.

For most of my young adult and adult life, the AFC West has been one of the strongest, if not the strongest, divisions in football…we need to reclaim that title from the silly AFC South (seriously, man, the Texans and Titans were in the best division in the league last year – they look and sound like Arena league teams =) )

Hey now

The Titans are for serious. They have a dominant D, and a strong, punchy run game. They’re pretty much what the Chiefs are aiming at.

Did anyone catch Chris Johnson busting a 66yd TD run up the gut vs. the Lambs last week? You can catch it here if you missed it. That guy is sick fast, he almost makes Jamaal Charles look slow.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the AFC West was a powerhouse. I look forward to returning to dominance.

Btw, I live in Nashville so the Titans are my #2 team… albeit a far far far distant 2nd to the Chiefs.

To clarify

I didn’t mean the Titans weren’t a good football team…I was commenting on their uniforms, logos, and names only. Were the Ravens a good team when they won the Super Bowl? yes…Do their purple and black uniforms and crazy bird logo look like they belong in the XFL? yes… =)

But this comment was great!
With all the new OL we have Gailey has the right idea with the bootlegs. If Croyle has to run out of the pocket might as well make it on purpose…

I’d say that sums up our offensive strategery quite nicely =)

I agree.

The bootlegs not only add a little more excitement for us fans to watch but I they also offer another option for Brodie to pick up an extra 2 yards and jump out of bounds when needed instead of having a d-lineman on top of him in the middle of the pocket.

Especially if our line black holes itself in mid-season like last year ;)

Good points, WMR

And since he’s out of the pocket, he can just throw it away. Good stuff, PV. I cracked up at the Arena league comment.

I may be a bit oldschool

but some of the NFL teams look ridiculous and have dumb names.

Iowa Chops

That’s the name of the new ice hockey team coming to Des Moines, IA. Not makin’ it up.
I do know what you mean about the Titans and Texans, though.
I was glad to see the Chargers dump the powderpuff blue years ago.

As ugle as they were

the old Broncos uniforms were WAY better than the NFL Europe crap they wear know…I hat that donkey on the side of their helmets…
