Training Camp Tuesday PM Update
Temperature: 70
Humidity: 79
Attendance: 83
I'm really anxious to see the running back take a direct snap. Per Bob Gretz, it was met with success every time it was used yesterday:
Offensively, the Chiefs had great success all three times they ran the play where the running back takes the direct snap from center, with the quarterback lined up as a wide receiver. All three came on third down plays and Larry Johnson, Charles and Dantrell Savage all got enough to move the chains.
Brodie on the freedom he's been given at the line:
“I would say out of 16 plays we probably had seven or eight that we had the ability to change it. So that’s eight more than we had all of last season combined.”
This might make a few of you more interested in our kicking battle. From Herm on any interest the team might have in picking up veteran kicker Jay Feely:
“We know what he’s capable of doing. We’re going to continue to look at our guys (Ks Connor Barth and Nick Novak). We’re going to let these guys kick. Now last week we scored some touchdowns, and I’ll always take touchdowns over field goals. But we have to wait and see. Nothing is out of the realm of trying to get better. We know he’s a veteran kicker. Right now we’re letting these two guys compete and we’ll see what happens.”
I was thinking this morning that I've barely heard the name Devard Darling this camp. If I remember correctly, he was brought in here to compete for the #2 job. However, I hope Will Franklin can take control and establish himself as the #2.
