The Chiefs-Bears game on Channel 5 drew a 16.9 Nielsen rating in Kansas City (each ratings point represents a little over 9,000 television homes) on Thursday night. On Friday night, the opening ceremony of the Olympics on Channel 41 drew only slightly higher with a 19.0 share.
Do you think Kansas City is ready for some football?

Olympics
What…that’s this year?
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
All That Would Mean
Is that it’s yet another sport for me to ignore before football season starts.
I respect the talent, skill and perseverance that goes into being a successful Olympic athlete. But I still could care less about most of what they do and I haven’t watched a Summer Olympic since ‘92 when they had the first Dream Team (I was a big fan of Bird, Magic and Jordan).

The Only Summer Sport I Watch...
Is baseball. And since the baseball team the U.S. sends to the Olympics is usually made up of non-prospect minor leaguers it’s not that entertaining.
Now, if they make rugby (particularly rugby union) an Olympic sport, I’ll definitely tune in.

Thats great.
Kansas City has the best fans in all of football. We are in a trying time for some of the fair weather types, so it is great to see those ratings. Now lets hope all of those who watched will buy tickets and keep it a packed house all year.
I want to take my family badly, but
Two kids with one having a b-day the money is not there.
