Training Camp Sunday AM Update
The Kansas City Chiefs entered the weekend practices with some attitude after traveling to Chicago and topping the Bears 24-20. The offense showed some flash - albeit in short spurts. The defense will continue to receive a pass from this fan until Dorsey gets healthy and warms up in the middle.
Bob Gretz touched on the chances of Dantrelle Savage making the team:
One way he can earn a spot would be as the team’s returner on both kickoffs and punts. He did the kickoffs last week and now the Chiefs are working him as a punt returner. He field punts Sunday morning as the Chiefs went through a special teams session.
Herm Edwards then gave a huge hint as to the future of the special teams depth chart:
“We want to give him a chance on punts, to see how he handles them, see how comfortable he is. If we are going to keep somebody as a returner, he’s got to do both.”
So what does this hold for the future of draft pick Kevin Robinson?
The mothership had this to say about Rudy Niswanger's attempt at replacing Casey Wiegmann:
He has learned the offense quickly and started the Chiefs opening preseason game against the Bears with good results. Look for Niswanger to be one of a few pleasant surprises when the regular season begins.
Special teams coach Mike Priefer hints that B.J. Sams needs to be taken along slowly:
“I think kickoff return-wise I like Jamaal (Charles) and I like Dantrell (Savage). I think BJ (Sams) can still do that and we’ve got to bring him along slowly because of the knee and make sure he’s a 100%. Punt return I think he missed one opportunity the other night. I think he should have taken it and he knows that. I think he’s a little tentative his first game back. He needs to be more aggressive.”
Hopefully this is a hint to Sams that he doesn't go along with the direction of the team and he will be Aloha'd.

Dropped the ball
I zoned out and didn’t get anything up about the Saturday afternoon practice.
Sorry, guys. The morning practice was canceled yesterday.
Sams
I think BJ (Sams) can still do that and we’ve got to bring him along slowly because of the knee and make sure he’s a 100%.
Why? He’s a 27 year old return man with a bum knee who’s never made a Pro Bowl, doesn’t play another position, hasn’t played much football in the last two years and fair caught most of the kicks he received in the last game. He’s the textbook example of someone you cut when you’re doing a youth movement.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
