Madden Curse?

So the rumors are flying around about Favre returning to the league.  I mean he has been away for all of a whole off season.  I know it has been a long time, and boy will it be intriguing to see if he still has it after being away for so long.

The real question is the "Madden curse".  Is it real or is it coincidence.  With Favre being on the cover of '09, will it strike yet again?  If he stays retired, the "curse" might be broken.  If he returns, well you know the rest.  I guess the tragedy could really be the fact that it would ruin his consecutive game streak.  The real curse may end up being the team he winds up playing for.

I am not  a superstitious person but, I find this to be an interesting topic.  Hopefully for Favre and his fans he stays retired.  If real, he may just hold the key to ending this so called curse.

I always enjoyed hearing about stuff like this

But I’m the guy who thinks its totally coincidence. Absolutely no connection there IMO.

i like the fact that brett

is on the cover. i am a true believer in the madden curse. stopped believing that is was coincedental after more and more athletes went down. last year vince young took a step back in his developement and was hurt the majority of the year. keep brett on the cover and save some poor soul from the curse or give that spot to tom brady and see what happens to him.

Interesting stuff...

the wikipedia page just about says it all… but I’ll summarize for the lazy. Remember, the Madden years are a year after the actual season (1999 Madden=’98 NFL Season)

1999-Garrison Hearst
2000-Dorsey Levens
2001-Eddie George
2002-Daunte Culpepper
2003-Marshall Faulk
2004-Michael Vick
2005-Ray Lewis
2006-Donovan McNabb
2007-Shaun Alexander
2008-Vince Young
*2008-Luis Castillo was on the cover in the Spanish Language version. He missed six games due to an ankle injury.

Culpepper, Faulk, Vick, Lewis, and McNabb had season ending injuries.
Alexander and Castillo missed several games.

Hearst and George had their best seasons while on the cover. Levens and Lewis had decent years as well. Hearst broke down a year later. Levens was never the same. Eddie had a rough year following.

It looks a little suspect, eh?
Vince Young still made the playoffs, but his stats weren’t that hot. He’s been the youngest, career wise, to grace the cover. Vick was in year 3. So let’s see if Vince’s leg breaks in 32 places this year… then we’ll have more to go on.

Brett is just fullfilling the l curse...

Brett’s decision is beyond his control. He being manipulated by the powers of Madden to fulfill the curse. Somebody must stop him before it’s too late!
