Training Camp Day 4 AM Update

- WR Timon Marshall was cut, putting the roster at 79 players. Marshall was only signed last week so he must have simply not cut it at all.
- "Missing from the practice work were DE Turk McBride (stomach ailment), G Brian Waters (unknown), TE Tony Gonzalez (rest) and WR-KR Kevin Robinson (knee). During the practice, LB Derrick Johnson was suffering from cramps and did not participate over the last hour or so."
- The young offense is inconsistent and does not know the playbook yet. This is what camp is for though, learning plays and getting into a rhythm.
- Damon Huard threw a pick that was apparently just a terrible pass.
- Gretz gives DaJuan Morgan props for his play and his pick of Huard.
The UW-RF update is here. I'm still experimenting with the best way to cover this so if you have preferences, let me know. I may end up doing one, later post combining both practices. That way the UW-RF site will have pictures uploaded as well.

The roster still says 82
But Gretz says 79. Let me check on this and get back to you.

Checking the Roster
I keep checking the Chiefs Roster, but they are slow to update it. Most of the time, I read about a change here before it shows up opn the Chiefs Official Website.
Hard to get a read
I hate to say it, but our offense right now will probably make our defense seem pretty awesome. New playbook. The offense especially is almost like an expansion club. Starting almost from scratch with LJ, TG, Waters, and even Bowe as the kingpins holding it together.
But at least
it sounds like our o-line is getting some push and is growing as a unit…They are able to gain yards against our D-line and it’s not like they’re out there against Ryan Sims.

Always hard in camp
When you read about a big play in camp, it’s always hard to know if one side is playing well or the other side poorly. Was that a great interception or a terrible pass? Great pass rush or poor pass protection? Great pass – lousy coverage. I choose to believe every big play is a sign of greatness – I love the taste of kool-aid in the preseason.
Huard
The way it sounds like he has been playing this offseason I almost wouldn’t be surprised if we picked up a different veteran QB off waivers in the coming weeks and cut or tried to trade him. I know it seems like we would keep him around for veteran leadership for our young QB’s but everything I have heard of him this offseason is bad.
Trade bait
If we wait it out, some team is sure to need a backup QB soon.

Hmm, choices
If I was a GM looking for a vet QB and I had a choice between Favre and Huard, it would certainly be a tough choice.
Blame my wife!
Yep
Huard has shown that he can play well as a back-up, but for some reason bites it big time when he is given the starting gig. Somebody would want him…possibly even a contender.
At least it was Damon who threw the pick!
We should be jumping up and down that it was Brodie. (Sir Eccles cue the Brodie bunch!)
Oh man
I forgot all about the Brodie Bunch!
That picture will definitely come back into play on his first TD pass…
