Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

They Say It's Your Birthday

Arrowhead Pride turns two today...

Back in April of 2006, while I was living in Washington, DC, I started the now-defunct Tomahawk Blog. Since I wasn't living in Kansas City anymore, I needed motivation to keep up with the Chiefs, since I wouldn't be getting my info through all of the easily accessible local coverage. And, I didn't want to go back home to KC to visit and have my friends call me out for not paying enough attention to the Chiefs. I figured they'd think I was all East Coast, which they did anyway.

About a month after doing daily posts on the Tomahawk Blog, BBS from Stampede Blue shot me an email saying SB Nation needed a Chiefs blogger and wondered if I was interested. I of course said yes and Arrowhead Pride was born a short time later.

As I've often mentioned here, the first year or so of the blog's existence was total crap. My writing was terrible and I had no idea what I was doing. Don't even go back and read the archives. I'm talking one line posts and stuff. It was embarrassing.

Somewhere along the line, I became more comfortable and got better command of the site. I'm not sure when it happened. It just sort of did.

The last two years have seen a steady increase in quality, quantity and traffic for Arrowhead Pride. We have some truly great contributors that come here. And that's what it's really all about - you, out there reading, commenting and writing your own stuff. Without you guys, I'm just another guy with a sports blog.

There are a few people I want to thank for helping this blog get to where it is. First and foremost, I need to give a big THANK YOU to Primetime, who is a long time contributor and main man behind the scenes. He writes, he edits, he comments. He does it all. Thanks Primetime. I feel like this is as much your site as it is mine.

I also need to say thanks to ALL of our commenters and contributors. Like I said above, it's all of us, pulling seats up to the proverbial bar and talking Chiefs that make this thing run like it does.

The Chiefs blogosphere needs a shout out too. Arrowhead Addict, Home of the Chiefs, Warpaint Illustrated and KC Chiefs Fanatic to name a few have been around for a long time and I often took inspiration from you. Thanks.

For you stat guys out there, here are a couple interesting facts:

Total number of visits: 498,771 (How cool would it be if we hit 500,000 visits today?)

Best month for traffic: That will be this month. We'll go over 50,000 visits this month. Our previous best was October 2007 (48,943), when we got a front page link on SI.com. We had over 21,000 visitors in one day.

Total number of comments: 20,561

Total number of front page posts: 1,456

Total number of FanPosts: 848

Total number of FanShots: 342

Well, I'm going to leave it at that. I'm glad you guys enjoy your time here. Because I really love doing this. Everyone keep up the good work.

Thanks!

Oh, the old Tomahawk Blog...

AP has come a long way and I’m glad we are part of the ride.

If not for anything, thank you, Chris, for getting posts up by 8 AM nearly every damn week day of the year.

Thanks Chris

Well as for me I just found the site today, but have been a long time fan of sports blog and let me tell you this has been the most fun and interesting site around, with very good blogs. Thanks alot chris for taking the time to get this started. I live in L.A. and have been a long time chiefs fan. So for me to read what other chief fans around the states are talking about is great. thanks again..Go Chiefs….

Happy Birthday, AP and thanks, Chris

but I am not getting you a present. You have cost me too much productivity at work for far too long.

Congrats!

Other stats

Can we get a stat on the amount of money various employers have lost from us spending time here instead of, you know, working?

We're gonna thank the hell out of YOU...

...YOU YOU YOUYOUYOU, Chris!

Thanks for being such a great GM ‘round these parts. In particular, I want to share my appreciation for making this a friendly place for all Chiefs fans, regardless of gender. It’s rare to find a football discussion blog where everyone’s comments are given equal weight and all that matters is that you know what the hell you’re talking about. I’ve never felt like “the token girl” around here—that tone and expectation definitely trickles down from the top guy, so thank you!

Happy birthday, AP! Cranky camp remarks and cynical predictions resume tomorrow. :)

Chris PT, DJ,

and thanks to everyone who contributes, bitches , or just post their thoughts. That is what makes AP the best place for Chiefs news around. Good job, congrats, and thank you Chris!

To make the B-day even sweeter

Sometime early this morning, the blog passed half a million visits.

Best Chiefs Fan Site On The Web

As far as I’m concerned. The quality of the articles is solid and the comment threads are informative and lively. It’s certainly one of my favorite pages to visit.

Congrats, Chris

Arrowhead Pride was very influential and helpful as far as us getting our start over at Arrowhead Addict. Additionally, Chris is an awesome guy who slaves over this site—he deserves the success he’s having. Thanks for the shot out, congrats, love the site and keep up the good work.

Long live the Chiefs blogosphere!

Happy Belated Birthday

Congrats on all the great work and still going strong. I check in almost daily, but can’t post as much as I’d like due to too much work. Just wanted to say thanks for keeping me posted on everything Chiefs and being my one stop for the latest news. Keep up the great work.

+1 on the belated

I post more than I should at work…haven’t been busted once. Plus, the smelly Vikings fan in the cube next to me plays Solitaire for like 6 hours a day (i can hear his mouse) click…click, click…click…click

Happy B-Day and 500,000 visits!

That’s a lot of visitors!
You’ll probably need to replace the carpet soon.
Best Chief info and community around!
To all concerned: Great work!
