Chiefs CB Patrick Surtain certainly is not young at age 32, but our sources tell us that he has looked even older during minicamp. He apparently is moving very slowly and looks like a player on his last legs. The veteran might have only one productive year left.

I'm Sorry To Hear That
He was a decent corner last year, if overpaid. But those guys who play at speed positions have a tendency to fall off a cliff about this age, so it’s not particularly surprising.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

He hasn’t been spectacular, but he has been the most consistent corner we’ve had in years.

Bummer
I hope he has one good year left. If he appears to struggle early, I guess we could easily move him to the nickel spot… having plays off could keep him fresh and help extend his productivity deeper in the season.

Is anyone
a little afraid that we may start the season vs. Tom Brady with two rookie Corners? I guess there is no better way to learn than by being thrown into the fire…

Definitely
At least this year, we know going in that we aren’t competing for a playoff spot.
Let ‘em play.
