Early start to fantasy football!!!

It's already that time guys! I have set up a league in yahoo. It is a free league for anyone to join. Infact I strongly encourage everyone to join. I don't have a clue as to what to play for, so if you have any good ideas I am open to suggestions. Here is the url, let me know if you have any trouble.

Thanks

Steve

Man

I still have $$$ to dole out from last year. Nobody responded to my emails though.

I’m on it!

I would LOVE some input

from those who have been in keeper leagues, especially multiple ones, as to what structure worked best. I know it could take a while to type out all the details, so please feel free to keep it short/vague, but I love fantasy football (I typically finish top 3 or bottom 3, seldom having a “mediocre” team) and would like to join a keeper league as well as my typical one or two other annual leagues.

I don’t have any money to spend, so any structure that is complicated because of payouts isn’t really what I’m looking for, but I’ve talked to a couple people about how many players you keep period, how that affects your draft status, a “restricted free agent” pool where players can be “bought” for a certain amount points given to each team, etc.

Who is in a keeper league that he/she thinks is a really good format? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for setting up the league Swift

I’m in as LJ’s Foot. Is there a reason you made it an autopick draft instead of a live action draft?

by JasonM on Jun 11, 2008 8:43 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I am most certainly open to a live draft,

Basically I left it autopick for the simple fact that I wasn’t sure of the interest people would have in my league. A live draft would be silly for 4-5 people. But seriously, give me ideas on whether you would rather a live or auto, and when. Also, be thinking of something to play for. Could be money, but like a lot of people money is kind of an issue, so I was thinking we should do something original and something that everyone could take part in.

I got ya

So if we get over 8 then you will change it. That works for me. As far as something to play for? Maybe the winner gets to have their own piece about fantasy football each week or something like that? I don’t know, but that would be pretty sweet.

Sure, It really makes no difference to me,

I didn’t really know how many people would sign up, so i was just reserving effort until I found out if it would be a good league.

Fantastic

I’m in as Denominators.
In a Chiefs forum fantasy league, are we going to be killing each other over Chiefs players?

Thats why it would be fun to have a live draft

Watching people select LJ number 1, Tony G and D Bowe in the 2nd round, and the Chiefs D in the 5th . Is there any way we can make it a live draft?

A live draft would be great.

From the sounds of “if you have any good ideas”, it wouldn’t take a lot to convince Swift to tweak the league.

Poor Croyle.

He’s ranked 1845, a meager 35 up from Mr. 1880, Tyler Thigpen.

Thanks!

I like the setup of this league, with the added starting positions other than the Yahoo default. I’m in as the First File.

Cougar Bait!

But we need to get to a live draft because it is much more fun (in my opinion)

Other recommends:
20 passing yards= 1 point
3 Wrs that start instead of just 2

Also, when is the draft? I can’t find where it mentions the date

OK

perfect. Im glad that we are doing a live draft, they are much more fun.

I think the best way to play fantasy football is to have an early draft, so you can get a lot of value later than you normally would, because then the draft positions start to get into normal position, and then the end of your draft is working on sleepers instead of ‘that guy who got hurt last year’ example, and then do another one a week or so before the season starts (after camp and preseason injuries)

a draft I did at NFL.com

Palmer, McNabb
LT, LJ, Rudi, Forte
Edwards, SMoss, Bowe, Burleson, Roddie
Vernon
Josh Brown
Cowboys

When I first drafted, everyone was high on Brady/Moss, so they went first. Peyton and AP followed. I seriously draft LT with the fifth pick.
News didnt come out about LJs foot being fine and his running around like nothing happened till after the draft.
Rudi, I dont need to talk about his stats. He had some issues last year and CIN wants to run more. I dont think theyll run by committee, I think the other backs will give him breathers or be change of pace backs… so I see him in an LT/LJ situation.
Some news came out about McNabbs shoulder or whatever. I picked up him after Palmer.
Burleson is going to be the #1 for Hasselbeck with Engram and what’s his face from the NE Cheaters.
I picked Forte up before the whole Benson getting cut.

How many teams are you wanting?

Six more would put it at 18, that would put us in some battles of 4th and 5th WR. I like it!

Man, and I'm trying to do FEWER leagues this year!

But since I’ve dropped two others, I’ll go ahead and join up here. This sounds pretty interesting. I’ve never played with a field larger than 14.

I’m in.

Arise team PETE ROSE!
