Guess the Chiefs 2008 Record
Here's how I see the year going down:
@New England - Loss. A win here would be fan-freaking-tastic, but I just don't see it happening.
Oakland - Win. I don't think the players they added are enough to make them a contending team this year. Plus it's the home opener.
@Atlanta - Win. I like what they did in the draft, but I just don't see it coming together for them. I think Matt Ryan will struggle as the starter this first season, but I think he'll be great someday.
Denver - Loss. I know the Chiefs typically do well at home, but I just think 2-2 sounds a lot more like the Chiefs than 3-1. I think Denver and KC will have similar W-L records this year.
@Carolina - Loss. The Panthers were an average 7-9 last year, but I like their draft this year, and this is a team that could be a contender this year. I think it will be a close game.
Bye Week
Tennessee - Win. This is a great team, don't get me wrong, but I think they are very vulnerable, and the Chiefs will be hungry for a win after the much-needed bye week.
@NYJ - Win. No way the Chiefs will let a victory slip through their fingers this time. I know Herm is probably just itching to beat these guys.
Tampa Bay - Loss. I'm not sure what to think of Tampa Bay. They're a good team, but I don't see them getting any better than they were last year... but I still think they'll beat the Chiefs, sadly.
@San Diego - Loss. I know, I want to win it too. I think the Chiefs will lose here and win against them at home. They always beat San Diego at least once.
New Orleans - Win. Only because I see them as a team similar to Carolina, and I am optimistic and think we will beat one or the other.
Buffalo Bills - Loss. I think the Bills will be in the playoffs this year.
@Oakland - Win. I just hate Oakland.
@Denver - Loss. It will be close though.
San Diego - Win. We almost always find a way to win at least once per season.
Miami - Win. I like what they did in the draft A LOT, but they are going to be young and inexperienced like us, and I think we have the edge.
@Cincinnati - Win. I don't like Cincinnati at all, and I can just see them crumbling at the end of the year.
Record: 9-7, but not in the playoffs. I think Denver will probably get a wild card and screw us out of that. But still, a respectable finish for a rebuilding team. What are your thoughts?

Not Bad
I am going to go out on a limb and declare, here and now, on this, the 8th day of May, 2008, that the Chiefs will beat the Broncos in Denver this season. (Snap…oh no, he didn’t just do that, did he?) :D

could not agree more
Brandon Marshall may not play, and they lost Javon Walker. Herm wants opposing teams to pass the ball, Denver wants to run. Good luck. With Boone on the end, Edwards/Tyler and Dorsey in the middle, and Hali on the other end. I beg someone to try and run through there. Not to mention the fact that if someone managed to get through that line, there will be some very action starved LB’s waitng to bust heads on the other side. Chiefs win that game with authority. Oh by the way, did I mention there will be no 50+ yrd game winning field goals from Jason Elam?

True
remember, Elam beat us in Herm’s first year here…wasn’t that the second game of the season (the one we lost 6 to 9) ???

Man, I forgot
about Elam being gone. We might just make the playoffs now!

Nah
knowing our luck, Elway would come back and kick the game winning 23 yard FG :)

I think
8-8 or 9-7 is very realistic. Hopefully we can find a halfway reliable FG kicker.

I am pretty impressed with Barth
I REALLY hope he works out…it would be nice to not have to worry about that position for 10 years, like we have been able to do with Colquitt

1-4 start
I like your picks. I’m going 8-8, though, with a very disappointing loss at Atlanta. The way Herm runs training camp, there’s competition to the very end. I wish he’d use the last two games to solidify the two lines, though, and also timing with the wide receivers. I don’t mean just playing time. I mean practice time and earlier decisions regarding the starters. While I appreciate his focus on competition to a point, I believe he takes it too far into the entire pre-season, hurting our chances in the first 2-3 games. Until he modifies that philosophy, I see a lot of 1-3 starts in our future. And I don’t think Atlanta will be that good. It’s just a mild trap game of sorts.
I actually think 8-8 as an overall record is optimistic, but I do like this team’s chances of coming together and doing some damage in November and December. I’m afraid it will boil down to Croyle.

I am going
against all I feel toward Herm, and saying 11-5! I think Chan has the experience to get us there. This will be the year where we will sweep the Broncos, Chiefs win the AFC west! Superbowl bound 09!

Hey it could be 2008-2009
the Rams were 4-12 the season before they won the Super Bowl…and they play in Missouri… weird…. :)

What?!
Donkeys sweep us? I don’t think so!
Much more likely the Chargers do, but somehow I see us taking a few more at Arrowhead this year. I can see a return to normalcy – if we can win a few on the road we’re good because we’ll only lose 1-2 at home.
TOUCHDOWN! KAN-SAH-CITY!!!

Looks like...
TheScootness was referring to the original post.
For my part, I think KC will sweep the Raiders, and split with both the Chargers and Broncos.
