Former Coastal Carolina quarterback Tyler Thigpen, Minnesota's seventh-round pick in 2007, has impressed Kansas City enough to make the Chiefs think he could challenge for, and even win, the team's starting job.

This is a good thing
I hope we haven’t/won’t sign Chris Leak. I just read he scored an 8 on the wonderlic! Ouch

He's not necessary
We won’t sign him to the active roster because we simply won’t need him. He might get to go to camp at best, but I don’t think we were doing anything more than taking a look at him. He has a slow delivery that will be a detriment in the NFL… it reminds me of Byron Leftwich with less of a dramatic step-in.
8 isn’t too bad… Vince Young reportedly got a 6. Which doesn’t surprise me as I’ve heard rumors of students at Texas that took tests and did homework for him while he was an undergrad. Phenomenal athlete, not a mental powerhouse.
Supposedly less than a 10 is a sign of literacy problems.
The lowest ever – Darren Davis out of Iowa State got a 4
Sebastian Janikowski got a 9. So GHB use/abuse will also impact your score.

Lowest Ever
According to USA Today (which I would rate as only slightly more reliable than WikiAnswers) this guy from Auburn got a 2.
Also, I lived in the same dorm as Darren Davis for a year and his score wouldn’t surprise me although my closest encounter with him was the time he yelled obscenities at me as I got off the elevator on the floor below him.

damn tubes
Never can trust what you find on the interweb these days.
How do you score a 2? I think you’d have to try to miss questions to score that low.

Hrmmm
Wonder if this is legitimately the Chiefs opinion or if its a case of someone trying to come up with a story during the slow football season.
I have no doubt the Chiefs like Thigpen and consider him a legitimate QB candidate in the pipeline, but I find it hard to believe they would take Thigpen over Croyle to start the season. If Croyle has a difficult time during the year, i can see them bringing Thigpen in and giving him a shot.

I think
Thigpen is a warm body to push BC. I can also see him being #2 QB for a young team.

I'm sure Adam Schefter
talked to Herm Edwards and Herm spoke in his usual overly enthusiastic attitude about a certain guy.
I don’t buy it.

Really?
It appears we tried to sign another QB to our active roster last year. This would have bumped Thigpen to the practice squad/another team, no?

Theoretically yes
We wouldn’t carry four QBs on the active roster.
