Training Camp
I don't know about you guys but we are in a really dry part of the off season and nothing is going down. Its really unsatisfying check all my usual websites everyday to find nothing. Im considering going to training camp but it depends when it is. Has anyone ever been and could you tell me what its like? Does anyone know when it is yet? If anyone finds out when training camp is will you let me know. I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking to go as well.
I believe it starts around the last week of July every year, but I have no exact dates. One thing I’ve heard from friends that have made the trip is that the heat/humidity is ridiculous, and the mosquitos are bigger than birds, but they came back with some great pics and autographs. They said the townspeople are very friendly as well(I have no idea how big River Falls is).

It's only maybe 30-40 minutes
from the Twin Cities, so you can always head there for some big city fun :)

I heard the same things
my cousin also said he hung out with boomer and jared allen who are both gone now but i just think this would be the best year to go just because of all the competition and the fact that its not just a bunch of old starters. These practices will be intense. I am looking to get a lot of autographs. Im confused i know the cowboys are on hardknocks but nfl network also said something about the chiefs too.

Hard Knocks
NFL Network is re-airing the Hard Knocks that HBO did on the Chiefs last year.
This year HBO is covering the Cowboys.

Wow a strange thought just came to me...
If you guys might be going for a week, then we would only need one more person to commit to going for a week and the entire camp could be covered here! I think its only three weeks at River Falls and usually starts on the 28th of July.

Yeah, they do a good job
Chris posted updates from some River Falls media outlet that did a really good job of keeping us updated.
It would be really sweet to have first hand accounts.
If anyone is planning on going, make sure you talk to Chris about sending in daily updates he can post…

I AM GOING...
I am planning on going the first Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday hopefully July 28-30. I will carry my Laptop and Camera to give updates all both Monday and Tuesday and the morning practice Wednesday. I can send updates as soon as practices are over.
This will be the first time in my 46 years to attend a camp with the Chiefs and I am already excited. I haven’t seen a game in person since the Chiefs beat the Cowboys the year Dallas went 1-15. (Johnson’s first year as coach)

Yes
My Aunt worked at the Stadium and was able to get me seated in the press box in the Dallas Cowboy Assistant coaches booth (rear seat of course).. I had to stay completely quiet, no matter what. Those guys were super nice though. I was able to meet Conrad Dobler in the hallway, he was doing radio, and happened to be one of my favorite linemen growing up as a child.
Many memories…

Went Last Year
I went to training camp last year. River Falls is about an hour or a little less from Minneapolis. Its pretty interesting just because you can wander around and really get a good look at the players. The day I was there, there weren’t a lot of people so there isn’t much to distract you. You can hear Herm yelling at the players which is pretty funny. I only went for one practice but I imagine that if you hung around in between and after practice you could probably meet some guys.
The weather isn’t terribly hot, having lived in KS and now MN, its definitely not as hot and humid as it will be in KC that same week. River Falls doesn’t seem like too cool of a town, pretty small rural place, however, there are a few bars there. Like I said its less than an hour from the Twin Cities so if your making a week out of it thats always an option if you need to get out of the smaller town atmosphere.

Thanks for the info
I have reservations at the Hotel across the street from the fields and by all counts I should get to see 6 practices. (morning and nights) One question, can you bring your own snacks or beverages in a backpack or small cooler?

Can't imagine you'd get any grief
Everybody “working” there is either a high school girl or an elderly woman you shouldn’t have any troubles. I just walked right up and sat down, nobody talked to me the whole time. They do have a concessions stand that I believe sells a few things but mostly t-shirts. The only night I would imagine you might have to deal with someone would be Family Night, just because that seems like they could actually make some money that night.
