Chiefs Agree to Terms with Seven Reserve/Future Free Agents

Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Monday that the club has agreed to terms with seven Reserve/Future Free Agents. The list of players who agreed to terms of two-year contracts include: K Billy Cundiff, S Erick Harris, DT T.J. Jackson, CB Chad Johnson, T Joe Lobdell, K Nick Novak and G Rob Smith. As per club policy, no further terms of the agreements were announced.

Most of these names should sound familiar, as they played on the Chiefs practice squad at some point last year with the exception of Erick Harris.

Future/reserve definition:

In effect, that means they are being signed for the 2006 season even though that season does not officially begin until March. Only players who were not on any NFL team's active roster when the 2005 season ended are eligible for such signings; if they were under contract, then they would remain so until March. Players who were on practice squads at the end of the season are eligible to sign with any team.
