Morning Update (Thigpen In The News Edition)

610x_medium

Weird...the picture above appears to show our LT getting beat.

via cache.daylife.com

Tyler Thigpen pretty much dominates the Chiefs news these days. He's the guy everyone wants to talk about.  He's the guy everyone is wondering about.  So, until some other players step it up (sans TG), we'll just have to get used to hearing about our very own media darling, Tyler Thigpen.

Also, we are organizing the AP Draft Guide that Lanier63 started a few weeks ago.  We'll take a look at it this week so everyone knows their assignments prior to the bowl games and we can figure out how we want to proceed with it.

Thigpen

He’s getting the attention because he’s probably the only interesting thing about this team this year. Nobody on the defense really qualifies. Tony Gonzalez is still our best player but he’s a TE. LJ’s only been interesting for his off-field problems. Thigpen’s the attraction by default.

The Chiefs should win 5 to 6 games this year and no less than 4 for this season to be considered progress in any way. If he can't win at least 9 games next season, Herm's a joke.

I think you're downplaying it a bit.

There doesn’t have to be a story. There hasn’t been most of the season. There’s been nothing about the Chiefs in national media. Thigpen is a story, because since he has become a regular starter for our team, we have improved. A nobody from nowhere (as far as the NFL is concerned) is starting and has given his team opportunities to win against good teams where those opportunities didn’t exist before.

It’s not a default story, it’s the classic everyman rising to become a star. The question is how long will the story last?

I'm Not Saying He's Not A Good Story

He is. But he’s also the only story.

I think this NFL season...

has, in general, lacked interseting story lines. I think to date, its been a crappy season and not just because the Chiefs are shwagging out. The dominatant teams aren’t interesting, no one is putting up crazy numbers, lots of injuries, and the biggest stories have been for off the field stuff.

It's Definitely A Weird Year

But you’re right…there’s not a ton of compelling stuff other than maybe Al Davis finally going public with just how crazy he is.

The Chiefs should win 5 to 6 games this year and no less than 4 for this season to be considered progress in any way. If he can't win at least 9 games next season, Herm's a joke.

But You Don't Even Hear That Much About The Giants

Since Shockey’s gone that team seems pretty drama-free (they definitely stuck New Orleans in that deal). One of the most quiet dominant teams you’ll ever see.

The Chiefs should win 5 to 6 games this year and no less than 4 for this season to be considered progress in any way. If he can't win at least 9 games next season, Herm's a joke.

PLAXICO PLAXICO

Whoops :)

Absolutely true…but the Giants have gotten rid of his distraction as well. Very sharp GM they’ve got running things right now. When he’s got a problem, he gets rid of that problem without hurting the team in the process.

Barber, Shockey, Manning, Plaxico, Arrington

Now that team of Giants wasn’t drama free. But yes since shockey’s departure, pretty much just Plax.

you know

If I was a GM, and my team would probably suck, I would want a clause in every players contract that said, “If you make more personal headlines each week than the team does for game playing, then you are out of here and owe us the remainder of your contract”

LOL

Love the preface. “If I was a GM, and my team would probably suck”. +1

3D

The Raiders/Chargers game tonight will be shown in 3-D in some theaters.

Expect lots of balls thrown directly at the camera to show how cool 3D is.

Blame my wife!

I wonder...

If they picked a game with JaMarcus Russell in it for that very reason…because the likelihood is that much greater…

I, personally, would love to pay to see LT tackled for a one yard gain and Rivers whine in 3D….(sarcasm…)

heh

Maybe we need a shark to jump out of the defensive line or something.

That picture...

Something doesn’t seem right about it. First of all, isn’t that Merriman? And isn’t he on IR this year? Second, how come that left tackle is white?

Perhaps it is the fullback getting beat, or perhaps that is a picture from last year?

I’m too lazy to go to the Chargers website and verify who that is….

by bas on Dec 4, 2008 9:31 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That is Merriman

and it must be from last year, because it is in Arrowhead
