The Kansas City Chiefs' 2009 Opponents
Okay, big time speculation is about to occur. What you comment on here now will mean nothing next season.
Have at it. What's our record next season?

Me? I'm counting at least four wins at home, maybe a sweep of the AFC West plus a victory over Buffalo or Cleveland. And on the road, I don't know how you can safely predict anything more than two wins, against the Bengals, Jaguars or even the Redskins (Why the Redskins? I don't really know why. To be different).
So yes, I am going with a boring and lame prediction of 6-10.
Yours? The poll only goes up to 10 wins because only insane people would pick more than that for the Chiefs next year. But, if you do,do so in the comment section.

Wow
At least we got the 2 best NFC East teams and the best AFC North teams at home. That’s about the only positive I get out of that.

I would love to guess, but I have no basis from which to guess.
Without knowing anything about how the front office, coaching staff, team philosophy, and personnel will turn out, I have no idea who we will be, let alone how we will be.
But, it’s Christmas, so I say 7-9.

Where is the undefeated bubble?
Mark me down for insane.

Call me crazy...
But I think we can take Dallas. Now, call it what you will… maybe that’s just the hate I have for the Cowboys or confidence in 2009.
I hate Dallas. My entire family (except my Dad) are Cowboy fans. And man I have to hear it from them every week.
The day the CHIEFS play the COWBOYS… It’s gonna be insane at Casa del ROC 27!
We may be "playing to win the game", but it seems like we're coaching to lose.

Raider fans!? I can't imagine what that is like. :)

I'm sure
having an all Raider family must suck, but we get Raiders/CHIEFS 2 times a year, so it’s not AS exciting when Dallas rolls into town (for me anyway). We play Dallas every, what… 4-6 years?

My wife is a Raiders fan
She grew up out in that part of Cali so I can not blame her. Our first date was the Chiefs/Broncos Thanksgiving game in ’06. I got her into a Chiefs jersey for the game, although I think she sneakingly wore some Raiders socks. Either way, we live way out here in Virginia, so neither of us get to see our teams on TV. All they play around here are the damn Redskins, I hate that team!

6-10
Improvement in some areas, we actually pull a few of them out at the end. But still a daunting schedule.

Dissapointed
in the lack of a 16-0 option going unbeaten all the way to win the Super Bowl.

I didn't vote.
If Herm’s around than we maybe win 4. If it’s a new org. and depending on their draft and FA picks we might make the playoffs like Atlanta has or Miami might.
Bill Parcell’s: "You are what your record says you are."
The Chiefs need to be playoff contenders in 2009 for me to consider improvement. Clark wanted it in 2008...I'll give them an additional year.
Thigpen WILL NOT be the Chiefs starting QB next year. He can compete for the job and be happy to be 3rd string or 2nd (if he's lucky). He is 1st string for dry-humping skeletons.

I chose 8-8
but I have a sneaky feeling that we could actually win 10. I think Dallas gets a new coach next year, and a new system and a pssed of T.O. (well then again that aint new)
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

I just hope
we can get a Monday Night game, or at least a Sunday night game, or at least a Thursday night game with such an awesome schedule. 3-13 might prevent that, which would be a real shame. I don’t think we’ve had a home night game since the Patriots in 2006?

I think 7-9 is possible with the players we have now
Coaching staff on the other hand I think hinders this team in a huge way. With a one or two game swing either way, 5-11, 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 are all possible from what I can tell.
"In the NFL, coaching has to make a difference when the games are close. The talent level across the league from team to team is too similar. Great head coaches do their best work in the fourth quarter when the game is on the line. Instead, we’ve seen Herm blow timeouts, put the game in the hands of the league’s worst defense, and most recently, run Larry Johnson behind Wade Smith and Adrian Jones as if they were Tim Grunhard and Will Shields in their prime.
Dr. Frankenstein is gone, but his monster is still roaming the sideline at Arrowhead Stadium." -C.E. Wendler, Warpaint Illustrated

I think if Herm Edwards remains
as the coach, the Chiefs will win fewer than four games. A breakout year for the Edwards coaching philosophy and style would be four wins. That would be one out of every four games during the course of the season. Since we have won only two of the last twenty-five games played, being able to win one out of every four games would be an astounding improvement. I think, however, that if Herm stays we are likely to win fewer than four games with a repeat of this year’s record a likely outcome.

Make sure you compare this, with the one prior to the season start
Every year, around the the second or third week of the preseason, this site and several others run this poll again and every year, this past year was no exceptions, people completely forget about the past season and buy into the hype from training camp daily reports, and every year, the bulk of people will answer that the chiefs have 10 wins in them.
I don’t know of any organization that can safetly say that every year except maybe the New England Patriots but there we are, sure of our playoff spot, every damn year.
Until proven otherwise, I don’t see how you can say that we will top our win total from this season unless you’re voting on what you wish would come true, not necessarily what the evidence supports.
