Former Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil told me today that he has not been, nor expects to be, contacted about returning to Kansas City in any front-office capacity.
Vermeil, who spent five seasons as Chiefs coach earlier this decade, said that talk centering on Vermeil being hired in a Bill Parcells-like football operations director position was nothing but a "big rumor."

That would be the worst possible scenario
Vermeil is a decent coach, but any thought of Dick “Ryan Sims” Vermeil being in charge of personnel in any shape, form or fashion is revolting to me. The idea that he could be the Parcells type guy (Parcells rebuilt several teams as a coach before moving to the front office) makes no sense to me.
Yeah that
Would be as bad as Herm (Sacintosh) Edwards as GM, or president.
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?
Dick should stay retired
period. We don’t need a front office leader crying over this team any more than we have now.
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.
