2008 Chiefs Pro Bowlers: Who Got Snubbed?

Meet your TWO Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowlers.  Tony Gonzalez will be making his 10th consecutive appearance while Brian Waters will make his 4th appearance.

Tony Gonzalez will team with San Diego tight end Antonio Gates for the AFC.  We've already talked about Tony's dominance in the NFL.

He sits in first place in the following categories for tight ends:

  • Receptions
  • Yards
  • Touchdowns
  • 1st downs

Brian Waters, however, is the star on a unit that is mediocre, at best.  He'll join Kris Dielman and Alan Faneca as the AFC representatives.  The Chiefs rushing offense is currently ranked 14th in the league.  Surprisingly, the Chiefs rushing offense splits their time evenly rushing to the left and right side.  They are successful running to the right end, gaining 5.67 yards per carry which is good for 6th in the NFL.  Do you think Waters' pulling to that side has anything to do with that statistic?

Which Chiefs player deserved a spot but got snubbed?

  • Not Dwayne Bowe.  There are currently 10 AFC receivers with more yards than Bowe.
  • Not Dustin Colquitt.  His yards per punt average has increased every year until this year.  He's also missed 2 games due to injury.
  • Not the defensive line.  Not yet anyway (come on Dorsey!).
  • Not the linebackers.  [Insert joke here]

We may not be full of Pro Bowlers, but at least we've got two.

Tony G Got His On Merit

Waters too.

Nobody else deserved to go. Bowe came closest but he’s had enough drops this year (and several unbelieveably key ones) that he should easily have been disqualified from consideration. Houshmanzadeh deserved a shot before Bowe did. Or Cotchery. Or Eddie Royal or Vincent Jackson.

A GM should be given no less than five years on the job to prove his ability. After that he should be removed if it's been more than 2 years since his team made the playoffs or more than three years since his team won a playoff game.

The Chiefs should win 5 to 6 games this year and no less than 4 for this season to be considered progress in any way. If he can't win at least 9 games next season, Herm is a joke.

Agreed on Tony

I don’t know enough about linemen to judge Waters’ well with my own eyes.

Yeah…Bowe was our next best offensive threat and he wasn’t even in the equation.

It Wasn't A Great Unit

But it seemed like kind of a weak field this year. Jake Scott maybe should have gotten a nod, considering how well the Tennessee running game went, but Waters was a decent selection.

Who got snubbed???

Nobody, TG still the best in the game. B Walters still holding it down. We’ve got some young ballers in the d-side (Flowers) but give them time. The KC All-star who got snubbed in Greinke, sure he wasn’t as balls as Soria but I’ll take him over George F’ing Sherrill.

You just said

Walters. B Walters. Was this a typo? (Want to give you the benefit of the doubt before I start ripping) ; ^ )

Dustin Colquitt

is Pro-Bowl material but I swear he has not returned to form since his injury. At the start I didn’t think it would amount to anything but I can honestly say I think its effected his play. Hopefully he’ll recover in the offseason
