"He quit?" Marty Schottenheimer asked quietly. "He did? Was this spontaneous, out of the blue?"
Schottenheimer was silent for a long time.
"Well, God almighty, oh boy," he went on. "Hmm. Oh my. Oh. Tell you what. I’m totally shocked. Call me back in 10 minutes. I need to think about this."

I highly doubt Schottenheimer would ever be our GM.
I think that would kind of be a slap in the face to his friend Carl.
I Doubt Marty Would Discount It
He understands that it wasn’t personal with the owner, it was about the lack of results that Carl Peterson was getting. Marty’s been around the NFL long enough to know that you’re only as good as your last win. And if Marty is interested in being a GM (which he’s suggested he is) and Clark Hunt offered him the job, I think he’d seriously consider it. Having an owner who will give you the level of support Clark gave Carl and a fan base as dedicated as Chiefs fans is something that any GM candidate will find attractive.
And the fans already like Marty, and Clark Hunt’s criteria for his new GM fit Marty perfectly. Hmmmm…
Ding, dong, the King is dead!!!
The Chiefs should win 5 to 6 games this year and no less than 4 for this season to be considered progress in any way. If he can't win at least 9 games next season, Herm is a joke.
Marty, smart to gather yourself
Some of us know and understand Marty. The NFL is a SMALL community and you don’t shit where you eat. Composing himself allowed him to carefully think about what he was going to say and be professional about it.
I wouldn’t want him as coach, but if we can’t get Pioli for GM, then I think Marty should be on the short list.
We know Marty, you had to coach a winning team with Carl’s personnel decisions and make the best of it. You decided in SD that you didn’t want to deal with that again and they let you go instead of the GM. They went from a 13-3 season to being a major disappointment…we understand your position on controlling GM’s. Good for you for taking the higher road.
Bill Parcell’s: "You are what your record says you are."
The Chiefs need to be playoff contenders in 2009 for me to consider improvement. Clark wanted it in 2008...I'll give them an additional year.

![I don't know if I laughed so hard that I started to cry, or the other way around.
Massive heaps of credit to Mr. Wendler.
