"Put any quarterback in this offense and they'll love it," said Thigpen, who threw just six passes as a rookie last year for Kansas City, which claimed him off waivers from Minnesota the week before the season. "You spread the field out, see where they're bringing blitzes from. You know where your 'hots' are at. It's fun. When you spread the defense out, they have to pretty much show you their bluff."
Thigpen has the Chiefs changing their thinking

Its a gimmick
or so people have tried to say. So far in my opinion nobody has stopped it and if Bones continues to have the TD/INT ratio he has I say stick with it. That’s my favorite part about the offense is that minimizes our turnovers. I still think all this talk about our QB next year and our offense is silly….

Hermism
"I think when the pressure comes on, (Thigpen)’s looking for a glove, and that’s the right guy to throw it to, no doubt about that," Edwards said. "Also, I think Tony takes him to dinner once a week."
I think Tony's done a 180 on the kid
At the beginning of the season after Damon went down I think he was like “Oh shit!” and went ahead with the trade demand. Now that Bones is progressing and emerging as a QB Tony can shape and mold him to do whatever he likes and be in the better part of the drivers seat. If he was traded anywhere else that could never happen, he’d never be the #1 target and never leaned on as heavily as he is here. But maybe he’d sacrifice that just to play on a winning team..

You may be partially right,
but I don’t think his reasoning for helping out Thigpen is quite that selfish. He wants to win, there’s no doubt about that, and he’s going to help do what he can to get the team to the promise land.
have you seen my baseball?
That does sound like I'm implying
Tony’s selfish which I do not believe is the case. It’s just with Bones he can mold him as he continues to improve whereas other contenders already have established QB’s (usually) and systems. Look at Shockey for instance – I don’t think that transition went as smoothly as anyone anticipated.

We've won 1 game and now we have all the answers...run the spread and keep Thigpen
I don’t think anyone on this team or any scheme should be automatically chosen as the wave of the future considering our dismal year.
Win some games with the spread against some great Defenses…say Baltimore next year. That’ll give the staff plenty of time during the off-season to fix the protection so that we don’t blame the line for not keeping Thigpen safe. Cause I’m well aware that there’s always an excuse in this organization.

The Chiefs need to be playoff contenders in 2009 for me to consider improvement. Clark wanted it in 2008...I'll give them an additional year.
No, there's always a cause
some people just see them as excuses…

I see
So, regardless of the crappy onfield performance and final results there’s always a reason and we just have to live with a different reason every year. Gotcha. I feel better about the performances since ‘72 now. It’s clear and I’ll just accept the status quo….lol. Yeah, in the real world keep giving excuses at work and see where that gets ’ya….lol. Too funny.
