Chiefs may stick with spread
According to the Wichita Eagle, the Chiefs may stick with the spread AND draft another spread QB. Herm Edwards appears to like the spread. Mostly because it emphasizes short high-percentage passes, an approach that cuts down on turnovers. If the Chiefs invest in the spread, then they are more likely to draft Bradford than Stafford. Tebow or Harrell are also possibilities. I am becoming convinced that Colt McCoy is the real deal, but he is waiting one more year beforing entering the NFL. This year, I would prefer we trade down in the first round and draft a linebacker or defensive end. We could (and should!) use a 2nd or 3rd rounder on a QB.

If we can pick up Graham Harrell in the 2nd round
then I say we take him.

I bet we will be able to
I’d be surprised if Harrell went in Round 1
but I’m also worried about his durability in the pro’s…he’s going to get hit and sacked a lot more than he has at TTech…he has like 10 seconds to get rid of the ball now.

Good we can get the o-line
straightened out if we stick with Bones.
At least 10-6 next year taking our division, or Herm goes.

Why
worry about a QB when we can’t protect the one we have. I think Bones will do well if we can fix the line. I believe Quinn has an upside as well.

I'd wait for QB
Maybe a DE in first round (preferably in FA because experience in NFL pass rushing trumps potential, IMO) maybe a LB (Rey Malualuga anybody?) and OL/QB in 2nd/3rd depending on who is left. To herm’s credit he has done a very good job of selecting the highest ranked player on their board in every round even if isn’t a high priority. That being said, i love Graham Harrell’s quick release and accuracy. He also has excellent poise in the pocket, he was like a statue in UT game. I also like Tebow and i think he fall down he draft board pretty far. I hate his long delivery, although he is very accurate with it. I do like the obvious intangibles and that fact that we don’t have to worry about him spitting in any girls face. He would also be a ood pick because you could do all sorts of crazy stuff with him out of the spread. Goaline formations, he could even play some H-back/TE position, lots of upside. I also really like Mark Sanchez, i feel like he is just a winner and a physical specimen too.

+1 on the DE or LB
Either one will be help early. If we can add help on the defensive side of the ball, we should be a much better team. If our offense progresses even a little, having defensive help will improve the team as a whole.
For some reason I just don’t see Teabow being successful in the NFL. I agree on the long delivery and believe it will affect his accuracy in the NFL. Sanchez looks good. The only knock on him is his limited playing time in college. The funny thing is none off these things matter if they have a good showing at the combine.

It's pretty simple...
I think that we definitely need to go with a LB (Maualuga/ Laurinitis) or DE (Johnson/ Orkap. And as it was already brought out, QB in the 2nd or 3rd. Now, who will be available by then? Cause I can think of at least 5 teams that need a QB (either a starter, competition, or backup). So, we just might be out on Stafford, Bradford, and Tebow. Mark Sanchez is intriguing. He’s a big guy and can throw.

Sanchez
It is true that his playing time has been limited but if we’re drafting a guy to back up ’bones anyway he will have time to grow up in the NFL. Hell, Croyle started forever at ’bama and look what happened there.
I agree that Tebow probably won’t be a succesful QB, at least not a traditional one and certainly not right away. But there is something to be said for being a competitor and a proven winner. Not to mention he is athletic and big enough to play a few positions. I would not be surprised to see him become H back/FB/TE a la Chris Cooley.
He joked on Sportscenter the other day that some teams may have him on their boards as a LB…maybe Tebow playing MLB is just what we need..hahaha

I guess if we are going to run the spread
Tebow would be a good H back because the direct snap to him might dangerous on occassion.

honestly
If we picked up Andre Smith LT from Alabama it would be a great pick because we could move people around to fix our line.
If we picked up Orakpo it would be a great pick on paper because we could have replaced Jared Allen
If we pick up Maualuga or James Lauranitis or Brandon spikes as a MLB it would be a great pick on paper because we need one and they are all good.
What i am trying to say is we need a lot of positions in this draft and I would be happy if any of those positions were addressed in the first day of the draft.

Good points
We just need SOMETHING right?? I do like “O-sack-po” he is a freak AND has a motor….rare thing.

Trading down
I’m not sure what player will be in the top 5 drafted this year but if we don’t get a DE in FA or a MLB then i wouldn’t be surprised to see us draft down and get more picks. Orakpo will sill be available mid 1st as will Rey or Laurinitus (probably just one of the two though). That would be a great move, get another 2nd pick with it…pretty sweet deal if you ask me. All of this depends on FA in my mind though.

I would be pretty upset...
if the Chargers picked up either Maualuga or Laurinits.

Honestly
If Brandon Spikes comes out i believe he is better than Maualuga and Laurinitis,
Spikes has the ability to stop the run as well as Rey “Mysterio” and plays less sporadically than Maualuga. Maualuga is good but makes stupid mistakes more than he should. I like Laurinitis because of his cover skills, but Spikes plays pretty well in coverage too, i just see him being a better all around MLB than Rey and James, Rey stops the run very well but lacks in the coverage department and the other way around for James Spikes does both things well, and is the leader of a team playing for the National Championship.
If i spelled either players name wrong please tell me, i always have trouble with the two, Thank You,

gotta go with the defense
or maybe another big o-lineman. i wonder if we will try to get anybody through free agency? however, i say stick with thiggy for now.
-by the way, does anybody know if brodie will be back next year? i know he wouldn’t be starting but heck, i still think he’s a good quarterback and could be a good backup.

What?!
i still think he’s a good quarterback and could be a good backup.
Seriously? What the hell gave you that idea? That he can’t stay on the field long enough to finish a game he starts, or the fact that he has never won a game because he’s been too busy getting MRI’s and looked at by doctors?
have you seen my baseball?
by IISaiNtII on Dec 11, 2008 12:41 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It's not even about his ability
Who cares how good he is? The guy can’t stay on the field. It’d be a waste to bring him back IMO.
by Joel Thorman on Dec 11, 2008 10:03 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
wasn't talking about him as a starter
just as a backup. he does have talent. i agree-he’s been injured way too much. a better line and him making quicker throws (not waiting so long in the pocket then throwing the ball at the last second while he’s getting creamed) would help.
i’d much rather go with thiggy and him as backup then pick up another quarterback when there are other positions that need filled more desperately.
we still have quinn too.
yeah, i still think if brodie could stay healthy he would do a good job. he hasn’t proven he can stay healthy but that why i wouldn’t want him as our starter.
by KCWolfff on Dec 11, 2008 4:19 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Hmmmm...
I wouldn’t mind him as emergency QB if we don’t pick anybody up in the draft, which is highly unlikely but i think Quinn Grey is much, much better than brodie and probably has the 2nd QB locked up unless we get somebody in 1st round. That brings up a good question, what to do with Brodie after we probably draft another QB…just cut him??

Yep
I believe his contract is up at the end of this season.
by PVChiefsfan on Dec 12, 2008 7:16 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with KCWolfff
Some just want to throw Brodie under the bus because he got the crap beat out of him because of the horrible protection. Not his fault, and any QB back there at the time (Huard) would have been done for the season. You must admit that each of the hits he took were severe enough to put anyone out. I’ll admit that he didn’t do enough to get away from those hits.
Croyle can be a very good QB. He needs the opportunity to prove himself behind at least a decent line, but hopefully a good solid line. I don’t see him taking the starting position from Thigpen, because he didn’t earn it, but he does deserve the right to compete for number two. The coaches see ability in him, and I’d like to see if it is there. I think he has learned quite a bit this year about being a QB in the NFL and will be better next year. Don’t just give up on him due to the bad play of the line, and really, really poor luck.
