Should we still trade Tony G?
I say no. Since that whole trade debacle went down, TG is getting the ball 8 to 10 times a game. He's catching everything thrown his way. He's taking the best corner from the other team, freeing up DBowe and Bradley.
Is he merely showcasing his talents? I hope not. I'd rather keep him too long instead of trade him when he has a few years left. Even though his trade value has to be going up with his stats.
What do you think?

He's only 32
Gonzalez could have 3 productive years left. He seems to keep himself in great shape and has only missed 2 games in his career. If we get rid of Carl Peterson in this offseason, we should be good again while Tony is still good.
I don’t think we’d get enough in return for him to make it worth trading him. Anyone should be available in the right deal, but I think Tony’s worth more to us than other teams would give for him.
I’m gonna be pissed if we trade him and all we get is a 2nd-round draft pick that Peterson gets to choose. He’ll blow the pick and we’ll have nothing.

Wasn't that our asking price?
A 2nd round pick? And Tony then said something along the lines of ‘I know Carl didn’t really want to trade me because he set the asking price so high. I mean who is going to give up a 2nd round pick for a 32 year old tight end?’
If we could somehow get a 2nd round pick for Tony this offseason I’d be content with that but I don’t see that happening.

We do not trade him. Let him retire as a Chief. BUT, if he STILL wants out we should trade him for nothing less than a 3rd rounder (still)

Agreed
That sounds about right. I think especially after a game like yesterday we’ve realized how valuable he really is to us.

I am a Chiefs fan. I am a Tony Gonzalez fan. At some point I wish we sould stop looking ahead and think what kind of draft pick we can get for him and just enjoy having one of the greatest players in the history of the game on our team. I don’t like thinking of life-long Chiefs as trade bait and whenever he has a good week being excited that we might get a higher draft pick. I don’t care if we would get a first day pick for him, he should retire a Chief.
Plus, seeing my hero in another jersey would make me puke

We shouldn’t even consider trading one of our best Chief’s players. He is still a great leader for our team. I don’t think he is showcasing himself. He is trying to WIN. I think he mostly cares about the team and it’s ability to contend, so he has stepped up to the plate.
It also helps that Thigpen is a competent QB and can get him the ball. TG is a HUGE difference maker for us.

I want him to stay unless an insane offer (2nd) comes along. He helps Thigpen an awful lot after all.

Theres NO WAY
I mean, I’m not saying that there is no chance that Tony may STILL want out, cause he just might ask for it at the end of the season, but I don’t even think we should give him that.
I KNOW! I KNOW! “He deserves to win a ring” and blah blah blah… I tend to respect player a lot more win- lose- or draw. Tony has DEFINITELY proven that he is a professional. I mean, I’m sure if I was an NFL player, my ultimate goal would be to win the big game (or at least GET TO IT), but at the same time, I’d stay true to my team and simply stick with it. I feel like T.G. could STILL be a vital part to this team. He has the ability to teach our entire Recieving corps, develop our QB, and be a continuous example to the rest of the team.
He has gotten all the recognition in the world… Not only as the best TE to play the game, but NOW as one of the best RECIEVERS to play the game.
T.G. is a CHIEFS… and should ALWAYS be.

There’s no loyalty in the NFL. You’re used, abused, then tossed to the curb like yesterdays garbage. All these guys know that. If it were me, and I saw what went on that public doesn’t know about, I’d do what I could to make ME happy, and tell everyone else to go f*ck themselves. Be a pro, but look out for yourself first.

Tell that to Derrick Thomas. Or Will Shields.

I'm not sure Tony would want to leave at this point
and I guarantee he is worth more to us on our team than any trade package we could get for him…He basically single-handedly gave Thigpen his first win

I think there are two types of great players
the Neil Smiths and the Will Shields. I just have a feeling Gonzalez is a Will Shields.

Well, 1st reason:
Carl Peterson is a douche bag.
2nd, he’s playing some of his best football and showing people (outside of the Chiefs organization) that he STILL has it and will more than likely play this way ’til he retires.
and 3rd, again… He wants to win a championship.
Now, maybe when he requested the trade it was based purely on frustration (and maybe a little instigation::: Jared Allen:::) But who knows what the guy is thinking in his head.

I just can't...
Seeing what the loss of Jared Allen has done to our Defense, I’d hate for our offense to plummet like our pass rush has since Allen was traded away. Who gets those 8-10 catches if he is gone?

I will never concede to the fact that a defense, or offense or a team for that matter
is about one player. There is more to that mix than one guy. I also miss Allen (for his play) but our problems are deeper than that. I also do not want to see Tony go anywhere.

If he wants to go
If Tony still feels he wants to go. I say we let him go. He’s had the best TE career ever. Why shouldn’t he get his chance at a ring. I think we should show him the respect he deserves and trade him to a good willing team to give up atleast a 3rd round pick. I think that Tony has worked his ass off for us and he deserves to get what he wants. It seems he’s content with staying with us though.

This isn’t the feel good league. It’s a business. Right now, Tony helps us more than anything we could get in compensation for him. I want to win a Super Bowl.
