Over/Under for Bradley passes next week
I’ll set it at 1.
I see some option plays with Bradley at QB and Charles lined up behind him and at least 1 option pass.
he has shown
that he is a legitimate threat to throw the ball, and throw it well.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see some quick-out WR screens go Bradley’s way just to allow him to fake the pass and then run it.
Thigpen
Is really athletic for a QB. He looked like a wideout when running that route.

1st half
This is what I expected when they hired Chan, I hope we can continue to find ways to open up the offense. All of these types of plays really made TB have to defend the entire field not just the area between the tackles. Now if we can just learn to play 60 min of football.
I dont know why, but it reminds me of the Steve Bono Slow run
off a bootleg way back when.

Did anybody else notice
That on the first play where Thigpen lined up at receiver the Tampa Bay corner left him alone and concentrated solely on the run? I wonder if coaching saw this too and tried to exploit on the next play…

I did see that
But it was because Thigpen just took a couple steps then started nonchalantly walking near the sideline. It was obvious he wasn’t part of the play. The second play (the pass play) he did the same thing but then took off in a sprint.
That play alone
shows us that we have a baller in Ty Gunz. I think he will have more growing pains, but turn out to be our guy. You have to have alot of confidence in a QB to run that play.
Im also exited by several players we drafted. Dorsey, Cottam, Carr, Flowers, Albert, Charles. We destroyed the draft boards all together, and it will pay off. The only issue that bothers me is coaching. Herm has got to stop allowing bad play calling that causes us to lose games. NE, NY,TB. We could honestly be in the divisional race right now with better coaching. You don’t pass on third and one on the four yard line when you have Charles in the lineup!!!!!!! We run on that play, GAME OVER

I thought he did a pretty good job
But that one play where Greg White got past him and nailed Thigpen was scary.
I wouldn't expect to see this play again the rest of the year
It’s kind of like that old Marty Schottenheimer play where the Punter would get the ball and go through the motions of kicking it but instead threw it down the field where it looked like a punt. The opponents return team wouldn’t go after it thinking it was a punt and didn’t want to muff it and a Chiefs player would catch it uncontested.
It was a great trick play, but you couldn’t overuse it because it was too easy for the defense to catch on to it. I can only remember seeing the Chiefs do it twice in all the time Marty was here.
The Thigpen play was a great play, but I wouldn’t expect to see it again. What I DO expect to see though is for them to do the exact same thing except continue it as an end around since the defenders will be more cautious with letting Thigpen go free.

or, as I suggested earlier, cut out the end-around, and just throw the WR screen where Bradley steps back at the snap – then he is at least a threat to throw it.

I love D Bowe’s blocking ability in a situation like that.
I could never be a head coach b/c the QB would never throw it on a straight drop back. It would constantly be trick plays ala Madden.
The reason trick plays work
Is because they catch the defense off guard. Once they’re on to it, you lose your edge. One reason you don’t often see an end around or reverse (which used to be trick plays but now are pretty common) go for much more than a couple of yards is because the defenders have seen it so often they can recover when it happens.
The Thigpen catch is a perfect example. From now on you can bet that if they line up that way again, they aren’t going to let Thigpen run free like he did. The only reason that play worked was because the defender didn’t think there was a chance in hell they would throw to him. Had the CB actually covered him like he normally would, theres no way Thigpen makes that catch.
One advantage the Chiefs have now is that every team they play the rest of the year has to be prepared for that play and honor Thigpen as a receiver. That will open up other things, even making the standard direct snap to the RB and running it more effective.
Chan knows how to set the tick plays up for later in the game also
It was great how earlier when they lined up with the wildcat formation that Thigpen totally sandbagged it on that play. Then he repeated that look on the play above, waited for the DB to bite on the play and then took off. I remember back when Denver would do that to us, they would run a certain play a certain way a couple of times, and just when the Chiefs thought they had it figured out, bam they would throw in the trick part.
I feel like we are finally seeing what I expected from Chan this season. I look forward to more excitement in the future games.
Helps when you can stay on the field more than 3 downs at a time
Gaileys playcalling has been highly criticized, but really what has he had to work with? Different QB every week and 3 and outs almost every possession. We really haven’t had all that many decent drives this year up until the last couple of weeks.
I was watching that occur last night
with Washington playing Pittsburgh. The Redskins D was getting awfully tired.

Amazing what a complete offense can do
We finally were able to run, thanks I think to our passing success last week, thus we were able to get first downs and stay on the field. This is a young team that is use to losing and they don’t know how to finish off opponents. Once they learn how to do that I think they could become a very dangerous team.
