This is what fans do??
I'm frustrated with the current level of performance of this team, I would gather that most fans of this team are. But it seems that some of us are so comfortable tossing insults and heaping scorn on the players, the coaches or the organization that we have forgotten that if we really want to call ourselves fans, then or critiques have to be tempered with some measure of support. Otherwise we start looking less like fans and more like emotionally abusive alcoholic parents, where nothing is ever good enough.
These guys did well this week in comparision to what they've shown us in previous weeks. There are areas for MASSIVE improvement but I think these guys played with some pride this week. My wife and I went to the Titans debacle and she was almost in tears looking at the body language that the players on our sidelines were showing. They looked totally defeated. I've had never seen a more melancoly looking group of players then we saw on that day and the fact that that same group can show the kind of swagger that they have shown in the last two weeks is remarkable. I wish that the last two games could have been victories but I'm happy that this club is still willing to go out and compete.
With the continued improvements in play and attitude, I think we might be looking at a different ball club in the near future. Coaching and front office issues aside let's not turn into the kind of fans that look for any reason to tear down our team when they're struggling. This thing is turning around and our young players are showing flashes of potential. The players are showing some pride, why don't we all do the same?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

No joke!
Arrowhead Pride is supposed to be a FAMILY where we can have friendly discussions (and sometimes disagreements) about our beloved Chiefs… not to turn against each other at the time we need each other’s camaraderie the most!
What would Lamar Hunt do??

True...
…Soccer, Football,etc.etc. My point is that he didn’t become a billionaire (not misprinted) by being a stupid businessman. He sold the Wizards and kept the Cleveland or Cincy franchise (can’t remember) because it made more money. He also sold WOF and OOF because it was a smart business move…loss of revenue but profited from sale, not to mention building the largest underground facility in the world that is the third largest Import station in the country for foriegn goods.
Business genius looking at the bottom line.

Good post...
This place has gotten out of hand with negativity and cynicism…It has forced me to go elsewhere to talk INTELLIGENTLY about the team…

It's Alright
Just because your arguments suck doesn’t mean I don’t like you as a person, PV. :)

You can’t seriously expect people to be happy with the team’s performance and pretend everything is “ok” when they’re getting blown out by 20+ points week after week. I didn’t expect them to win a bunch of games this season, I just wanted them to stay in it and be competitive. At least they’ve shown over the last two games that they’re capable of doing that.

Great Post
Thanks. My sentiments exactly. I am OK with some disagreements, but to just bash and complain and call cynicism being realistic, is just garbage. The team needs it’s fans now more than ever. To simply trash them when they are down is pretty low. The more we support them, the better they will want to play for us and themselves.

I have allowed
myself to become embroiled in a couple skirmishes myself around here, but here is my problem.
This is a fan page, not a “special happy place”. If we can’t accept that people will have different opinions instead of trying to jam happy time down someone elses throat it could be better.
Sometimes, people need to vent. It’s called frustration and to call bad play or bad coaching for what it is isn’t being a bad fan, it’s dealing with frustration of seeing your favorite team go somewhere you don’t want it to go.
So for you ultra optimistic rainbow land fans, fine, good for you that all is sunshine and daisys. Others sometimes need to get rid of the bile they’ve been forced to choke down to make it to the next game.
From now on, maybe there should be a section called “the vent” or something to allow folks the opportunity to get it out of their system without having the smiley face people come and persecute yfor not being on the happy train.

I enjoy the difference of opinion
It is good to see the healthy discussion of the positives and negatives. The problems arise when one or the other isn’t open to the discussion and doesn’t back up their rant – pro or con. I don’t see anyone here calling for a positive only website and I haven’t seen anyone view this season as “sunshine and daisys”. I like the discussion, just not the venom.
Most are simply saying that instead of only complaining and calling for firings every day, that from the beginning of this season, we were told that this would be a tough one, due to the “rebuild”. Compound that with the injuries, and any team will struggle. Look at the Bills, Cowboys, Colts, Patriots, Chargers, and on and on this season. There are a lot of teams that are “struggling”. The Chiefs just happen to have brought our struggles on with a purpose in mind.
I, for one, like to look toward the future and try to find something positive to look forward to, fully aware that there are many problems to be fixed. I see these sites as a way to discuss both. Just because we have lost some close games and have gotten blown out of a couple, doesn’t mean all is lost though. It sucks, but when looking at the progress of the young players and changes that have been implemented overall, some of us have hope for the future. it doesn’t mean we are blind to the bad.

I think as long as things remain civil toward one another it s fine to vent
my suggestion however is to always have relevance to your opinion and facts to back it up. But you have to admit, things have gotten out of hand a few times lately, with these posts. We can all share our opinions and enjoy the back and forth, but in the end, sometimes we have to just agree to disagree and move on. What seems to frustrate a lot of posters is the 30-40 replies between two people that lead to nothing other than personal attacks in the end.
I’ll remain a faithful participant with AP and look forward to everyone’s opinion, vent or no vent, smile or choke expression.

Rule #1 of blog posting...
Attack the arguement, not the person.
by HIV 2 Elway on Nov 3, 2008 1:23 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
And
It should be added on that “attacking the person” also includes telling people to “calm down” when they make their arguments, dismissing an argument as excessively negative without addressing specific points, or accusing others of being irrational hateful.
I contribute more than my fair share of vents to this site, but the smiles and rainbows people should realize that when they dismiss arguments by labelling someone as a Herm Hater or a Carl Hater, they’re not really being positive or conciliatory or considering an argument…they’re just choosing a passive-aggressive way of telling someone to go fuck themselves by treating the other person like they’re simply crazy.
And yes, DJ…I’m going to single you out on this one (and not to personally attack you, but to illustrate a point). Constantly opening your arguments or rebuttals by telling people “you need to calm down” is infuriatingly condescending and patronizing. It also smacks of you using derision to cover for yourself whenever you bring up a weak argument that’s not supported by stats, facts, or clearly observable patterns on the field. If someone wants to do a rant because they’re angry about a loss, let them do a rant because they’re angry about a loss…we aren’t each others’ doctors or parents and it’s not our place to pretend that we are and to tell people how they should think or that we know better than them how they should express themselves. If someone wants to make a negative point, let them make a negative point. If someone’s negative points bother you, then don’t read or respond to them.
Consideration cuts both ways.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Its not the team at all
I love the chiefs always have always will but our coach has to grow a pair i mean come on inside the 5 yard line 4th and one worst case is we dont get it and they drive down the field 95 yards and score and win the game which happend anyway so here we are at 1-7 with one less play used and another loss
