Latest Loss
I just finished watching the game. I’ve been a lifelong fan and realized the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I used to feel as a child when the Chiefs would find a way to lose has returned. I’ve never been a fan to openly hope the head coach on my team be fired but that’s where I am with the Chiefs. They’re the only team I’ve rooted for my entire life and I go back to when they participated in the first Superbowl. I’ve followed all of the loyal fans anguish as the season has unraveled and hoped that we would see a turnaround before season’s end. When Herm Edwards came to KC the coaching reputation he had was not a secret. He has fulfilled the predictions of those who followed his career elsewhere regarding his primitive approach to offensive football and his coaching philosophy. He made his feelings clear from the beginning by openly criticizing the offensive system the Chiefs had when he arrived. I also saw the imbalance that existed when Dick Vermeil coached the Chiefs and no lead was safe. What I don’t understand is how we arrived at this point where neither side of the ball, or special teams for that matter, can be depended on to win a game that we absolutely should have won. Herm Edwards is supposed to be a defensive coach and master of the Tampa defense. I respect him as a person and know he’s a good man but as Marty used to say, this is a performance driven business. I keep hearing about firing Gunther and Chan, etc. The head coach is responsible for the entire team. You can’t blame the assistants and GM and give him a pass. The Chiefs look helpless on the field and I feel sorry for the young players who do have talent are giving their all to try to win. I wish I saw a way out of this mess but I do not until it plays out and it becomes apparent to all that Herm is not the answer and doesn’t have the answer. Unfortunately, by then we may have two or more seasons like this one. I’m painfully disheartened and I’m a loyal fan who will always love the Chiefs. I can imagine how the casual fans feel or the young fans who live and die with the Chiefs. The only consolation I have is that I’m much older now and realize the world doesn’t end if my team loses and that I have many more important matters to be worried about in my own life. Unfortunately, that doesn’t make the feeling in the pit of my stomach go away.

Great post
I speak as a young fan when I say, “What the fuck is going on?” I agree wholeheartedly about Gailey & Cunningham & if this game didn’t didn’t lose Herm’s job I don’t know what will. Plain pitiful

That sucks about Kolby-Wan
but fortunately, it’s the only position at which we have reliable depth.

Not anymore
Charles and then Savage, who just started playing RB in games this week. And I wouldn’t feel confident counting on LJ to return this season.

LJ will be back...eventually.
and we’ll finally find out if Battle deserves a roster spot =)

A lot of people were giving Kolby shit last week
But I’ve always liked him and thought he performed well prior his injury. He cuts well and picked up a lot of yards for himself, not the lineman. Sad to hear he’s heading to the IR and I wish the best for him

I've Never Been Sold On Him As A Primary Back
But as a guy in a platoon situation I think he’s been pretty good.

Personally I think our backfield is set
IF LJ can keep on the field, I think Kolby is a good #2 and a great #3. Jamaal is showing promise as a great #2 and congratulations to him for his 1st 100+ yard game. This shows potentail and we’ve drafted well for the backfield, as we have for the defensive secondary and line. If only we can do the same for the offensive and QB corps

I don't think we ever intended that he be a primary back
our offense was built with a bruising HB as the main guy…
If LJ is done for the year, or for good, we’ll be looking for another big powerful runner.

Drafting HB 1st round is retarded
I hope the NFL and particularly the Chiefs have learned this

Agreed
Running backs are extremely replaceable. Unless you’ve got a pretty established team and you’re looking at a guy like Barry Sanders, it’s a reach to draft a RB that high. I think o-line, d-line, or linebacker are definitely the areas our 1st rounder should be targeted on…preferably line. The lines are your team’s backbone and it’s definitely not an area to skimp or to build off of scraps and wishful thinking (late round picks).

Word
A team with an established line should be the only one’s drafting a HB 1st round and even then they’re drafting late 1st round because of their success. I would also lump CB’s into the category of 1st round material as even though they come out of generally 2-4th rounds everyone needs a shutdown corner
Speaking of CBs, kudos to Brandon Carr’s for todays performance

I said nothing about drafting a HB in the first round
but we do need a bruiser…I don’t care where we get him.

Fix the line first
Then plug in anyone at RB.
