Tampa Bay Bucs At Kansas City Chiefs 2nd Half Thread
Who are these guys on offense? See what a little creativity can do. We are on our way to having season highs in all offensive statistics. Let's see if the second half is as good to us as the first half was.

Those penalties are killing us
Holding in the red zone and roughing the passer on third and long
Anyone know if we can watch this game online?
Iowa seems to think the vikings texans game is a better choice.
I'm just watching the gamecenter on nfl.com
was the roughing penalty a good call?
not bad at all
DJ is hurt though, which could end up being bad
Looks like we have been fortunate picking up Weatherford
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
great thro by thiggy
and of course, great fist pump
yeah
their defense is playing good. deflecting the ball quiet often. also a few dropped balls.
Who is playing RG and RT for the Chiefs?
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
We are committing some dumb penalties
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
Brackenridge with the 10 yd holding penalty
That’s a good way to get yourself noticed on your first week back
If they score a TD
Do you guys think they’d go for 2?
Yeah, I don't think so either
but I’m sure it’s something Gruden would think about
Hey I just got home from work
this game is a lot closer than I was expecting
I strive to be the person my dog thinks I am.
Dunno it's huge
But might givew our D a little morale boost

it's huge cuz if they get a TD
all we need is a FG to win
we need a 10 minute drive
ending with a TD
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
I'm looking through the stats online
is the reception td to Thigpen right?
I strive to be the person my dog thinks I am.
direct snap to charles, reverse to bradley
thigpen wide open downfield
bless in disguise
these injuries and supensions are working very well in our favor…
"stuck in Dallas"
Makes no sense
Being aggressive is fine but as long as the run is working (and it was) you keep freaking doing it
should have ran
ran for the first then throw for the TD
we're running so well
there is no reason to try and pass it
amazing
i think chan/herm try to get to cute sometimes “they will think run so lets pass it!”
"stuck in Dallas"
Mighta been good D on TB's part
TV guys called it a blown-up screen – screens are more running plays than passing
by Bleedingredandgold on Nov 2, 2008 2:47 PM CST up reply actions
The one time Herm decides not to run
is the time they should have
Run
the ball on 3rd and 1 and you win the game. Pass it and settle for 3, they still have a chance!!!!!!!!!
yup
with stupid penalties and kickoff and punting coverage. we need a pick here.
Come on
our D needs to show up now. we need to stop em.
What are they challenging?
the fumble or the recovery?
I strive to be the person my dog thinks I am.
they're challenging if he was down
but it was def a fumble
Pollard's ass makes the biggest play of the game

shit pissed me off
i bet if you checked he has another record… most Offensive Pass interference calls in a season
"stuck in Dallas"
lets recap
Roughing the passer on 3rd and long, holding in the red zone, offensive pass interference on a catch that would end the game, and there was one other i think that gave the a first down on third down?
Good thing herm
called a timeout to set that up…dbag
no reason to call a timeout before that long td pass
clock wsa running
no it wasn't...
after the penalty for false start at the end of the game they start the clock as soon as it’s spotted.
why didn't we just run the freaking ball back when we could have had the TD?
This could be two games in a row lost that we should have won
come on savage
get a kick off return for a TD
yes
very bad coaching 2nd half. now lets tear it up second half.
local channel here in Indy
swithcing to cover the game ttyl
I strive to be the person my dog thinks I am.
Okay, someone explain to me why you take a knee at the end
when you have a chance to get the ball downfield and kick a field goal?
Shoot, I don't!
My sis was there—they were psyched. Sucks that the Chiefs lost, but that was one hell of a game. If that was the Steelers and the Redskins on MNF, we’d be thrilled.

I would be okay losing to a team if the other team deserved it
but we lost this one on our own
Not just any team could have blown this one
it took a real team effort.
geez
what a game. horrid playcalling second half lost the game.
It's a good thing for Herm
That defense "wins’ games, huh?
anyone else see that we are competitive when we dont play conservative, and when we do like the second half, we beat ourselves. Herm ball.
on the bright side (such as it is)
Chiefs still showed some improvment. They did pretty well against 2 legit teams. A W would have been better, of course.

Caption for R.Barber and Gruden after the kick...
“Thank god you tripped, or we would have lost the game!”-gruden
one thing i liked
Thigpen stepped up his game. again.
He earned the next start.
how?
just because of no int? How many passing yards?
I guess you missed
his constant movement, making the throws and putting himself out there at every chance.
200 yards of offense out of your QB
will not win many games in the NFL
On the other hand when a rag arm like Jeff Garcia lights you up for 340…
technically
our QB had the game wrapped up in the first half.
Where was the defense cuz it looked like the cheerleaders took the filed when the offense left the filed.
and, pardon my failing memory, isn’t defense Herm’s specialty?
if you're asking why Herm still has a job
I can’t answer the question. I said he was a bad hire from the beginning. I have seen nothing to change my mind since.
well then
We agree on one thing at least.
?
Do you live a happy life, or do you find the negatives in EVERYTHING?
He looked pretty good to me.
No INTs, made some good decisions, threw some accurate passes, scored a couple TDs, made the O-line look better, saw a few blitzes & got rid of it, ran for some positive yards, all on his 3rd start…
Not good enough for you? You want Croyle back, or Huard?
by Bleedingredandgold on Nov 2, 2008 3:38 PM CST up reply actions
Jeff Garcia wouldn't be bad
seeing as how he lit the Chiefs up
I wonder
who Herm will blame the loss on this time, cuz it’s never ever Herm’s fault.
107-143
Herm’s updated win loss record…..and countng. sounds lke a good prospect for a head coaching job, huh?
nfl ot sucks
i don’t like it. its crappy. it always feels very crappy.
and gonz had no more contact then that puny little d-back did-that catch was the play of the day and it was taking away-the game winner.
and yeah-we lost it ourselves too.
and yeah-herm is a germ.
draft picks..think draft picks………..
He won't ever take the blame.
Even though it should always rest on the coach. The players do what they’re told (mostly). He definitely wasn’t trying to “win” in the 2nd half.
have you seen my baseball?
I am with Herm on this one....
…Actually I might blame injuries more…I think if Flowers and DJ didnt get hurt we would have won…Flowers wouldnt have allowed that…hopefully…
Special thanks to majapapa
Thanks for the live game feed! No comment on the game, we all have heard it before and will hear again after the next loss.

I still see positives out of this one...
The return game is good enough that no one’s bitching. Coverage needs work, though.
O-line did better – good running game, against a legit run D. Pass blocking was a little better, but needs work. Herm needs to learn to trust the passing game more, to keep the run game gong. IMO, that’s what killed them in the second half. WRs need work, hopefully, more practice time with Thiggy will help get them in synch.
TT just put together back-to-back good games. Give him the next start, keep working with him. He’s done better that Croyle has, on that count, even if they lost both of them.
Even with LJ gone, we had a running game.
Coaching needs to learn from this one, but they were more aggressive than usual for a while. TT got a couple shots down the field.
D-line was better, got more of a push against the pass. Ain’t there yet, but better. Pass coverage didn’t really suck, until Flowers went out. Hope he’s OK. Boy, we need help at linebacker.
Downside: stupid penalties. Young players need to learn some poise. Take away that roughing call, and they win it, and maybe one or two other penalties.
My take: I could see the pieces on the field, they just need to put together a coherent game, and play all 60 minutes. Do that, and they can compete.
Chin up, fellow Chiefs fans. Things are looking up! What was the spread on this one, anyway?
by Bleedingredandgold on Nov 2, 2008 3:53 PM CST reply actions
Absolutely....
….That is what this season is about…for sure…good observations…
We are improving every week
Now, if only Herm...
Realized that /he/ needs to improve every week, too. Not to mention the rest of the coaching staff… :-(

+1
You’re dead on. We all knew we were gonna suck, so don’t get pissed if we narrowly lose—remember Atlanta?
They’re getting a hell of a lot better, and whether or not we’ve got a QBOTF in Thugpen (trying it out), we know we got an athlete that will do whatever the hell he has to to win.
Offensive playcalling was solid at first but got very… flaccid. That’s right. I used that word.
Defensively… I feel like we played the “give ’em five to keep them from getting 60” technique well, except TB used it 12 times. MATH JOKE.
I’m proud of ‘em, fellas. I took the dog to the park and didn’t threaten to kick her like every other week.
