Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

Honestly, if guys want to continue to live the lives they are living, and that goes from the top down, and if we want to stay employed then we better go and win some football games because things can change real quick.

What I loved about this comment

was that it was a direct shot at the top of the organization and after his comments and Tony G’s trade request, I hope Clark Hunt wakes the fuck up!

The First Part Of That Quote Was Even Better
"It’s always frustrating when you lose. We get paid to win football games. When it is all said and done 15 years from now people won’t look back and blame this reason or that reason or say that ‘they came close many times.’ That means nothing.

To be blunt, history doesn’t give a shit if you try hard…history cares if you win. “Trying hard” is what losers do. Winners expect to succeed and do everything in their power to make that happen. Waters absolutely nailed that point.

Of course, Peterson’s and Herm’s response to that this offseason will probably be to get rid of Waters…

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Waters

has given more to this team & franchise than Herm Edwards ever will. I will even say the same about Peterson. To me franchise players like him and Tony are bigger to this team and mean more than any staff or coaches. And thats a fucked up position to be in as a football team

Yep

Agreed with both UC and Shuffle. The thing is that Waters is a winner and calls it like he sees it. No excuses. He knows that even if they (Herm and Carl) did cut him he’d have plenty of offers. TG is a prime example that he saw the writing on the wall this season.

I disagree

I think it is right that franchise players are bigger to a team and mean more than staff or coaches. I bet a lot of other losing teams wish they had perennial Pro-Bowlers …it will be much easier to replace Peterson or Carl than it would to replace Gonzalez or Waters

My comment was a worse case scenario

It wasn’t mean’t to indicate that that’s what they’ll do.

yeah...well you zinged the thread on that one.

As much as I was happy he left with his big mouth, we still haven’t replaced him or found someone suitable and at the same caliber.

Or Someone Of Half The Caliber

Seriously…four sacks isn’t an unreasonable expectation for a mediocre to poor lineman replacing Allen, and right now we don’t even seem to have someone capable of doing that. What the hell is Krumrie doing as defensive line coach (besides screaming and mugging for the cameras)?

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

I thought cutting Jimmy Wilkerson was retarded

but cutting Waters would be incompetency of epic proportion
