Six Chiefs are Out Against the Saints this Weekend
Just a quick note in the middle of a very busy day for me:
No surprises here: Herm Edwards said defensive end Tamba Hali, linebackers Derrick Johnson and Pat Thomas, cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Pat Surtain and guard Adrian Jones would not play on Sunday against New Orleans at Arrowhead Stadium. That's five starters plus the third cornerback.
That leaves the Chiefs Donnie Edwards, Demorrio Williams, Erik Walden, Weston Dacus and Rocky Boiman at linebacker. Only Edwards and Wiliams were on the team at the beginning of the season.

Dammit
I thought we’d get either Flowers or Surtain back…

Patchwork D
But to me our D seems like it’s still improving or at least maintaining the same level as early in the season when we were healthy… of course that’s not saying much. It seems like we’re improving. We’re getting turnovers, but our offense isn’t capitalizing on it. If we had a higher points-from-turnover average, our record would be dramatically different. I’m not saying our D has been good this year, we’ve had some serious trouble vs. the run… but think about it… have we given up any 82yd TD runs up the gut recently?

The run
Actually they’ve done much better against the run the last few weeks also. That may be partially a result of teams picking on our backup CBs since Surtain is out (Patterson, Brackenridge, Leggett), but I thought they did a very good job of holding Thomas Jones and LaDanian Tomlinson and Tampa Bay didn’t get much going on the ground either.

LT is not the same back.
Tampa does not really have an elite back. I think the run totals are a bit skewed like you said because of teams ability to throw on us.
